Giving Filipinos A Bad Name
If I ever get my hands on this scam-artist of a woman, I will literally ring her neck and go Bruce Lee on her. Filipinos in Canada always have had a great reputation when it came to being honest and hardworking. But, here’s a story that came out in the Toronto Star(Canada).
Refugee claimant Janice Del Rosario gained friends with her kindness – and enemies who allege they were scammed out of millions
She came into their lives out of nowhere – a beautiful, God-fearing woman preaching love, bearing presents, and offering everyone an opportunity to share in her good fortune.
Janice Del Rosario dressed in Gucci and drove a BMW. And she dispensed kindness, compassion and good deeds “like a Mother Teresa.”
But when she disappeared suddenly last November, the velvet-tongued Del Rosario left behind a dozen victims clutching an armful of bounced cheques, useless promissory notes and slim chances of recovering any of the estimated $1.5 million they claim she took from them. Victims who spoke to the Star said the amount taken may be much higher, but those victims have not come forward.
If you think that I’m overreacting when I tell you that I would go Bruce Lee on her, then just hear the many stories of her victims, and you will realize the cold blooded nature of this woman.
“She was really good,” Ramos says, explaining how Del Rosario took her for $90,000. “Michael is probably the cheapest person in the world and he gave her $30,000.”
“We know of at least another five people who are owed about $300,000,” says Labrecque.
Ramos claims that the previously pleasant Del Rosario left a chilling message on her answering machine after learning she and other investors had gone to the police.
“Tears of blood will flow from your eyes if you come after me,” was the message Del Rosario left in Tagalog, the Filipino language.
Just too many victims to mention… this lady deserves everything she has waiting for her. I truly hope that she get caught soon. If you do recognize her, you can contact us here at tingog.com, or the NBI in The Philippines, or any Canadian police agency.
Update
Apparently this story was written on January 14th, and a day after this report, Janice Del Rosario was caught and arrested.
Janice Del Rosario was arrested last night by the Toronto police Fugitive Squad at a four-storey apartment building on Bathurst St., just south of Highway 401.
Rosario, 44, and her two boys, aged 8 and 13, had barricaded themselves in a basement apartment before she was arrested, police said.
According to tenants of the Bathurst St. apartment, Del Rosario had been staying with the building superintendent on the first floor, but was found hiding in a basement apartment when police arrived. The owner of that apartment was not home at the time police raided the building.
There were delays bringing her out as police sorted and photographed dozens of pieces of jewellery that were in three duffel bags in the apartment.
Del Rosario was taken to an immigration centre, pending arrangements for her deportation to the Philippines. Police continue to look for her husband, Kaye Gravador Del Rosario, who is also wanted on a Canada-wide warrant.
