Youtube Traffic Has Gone Flat Since Google Deal
In our previous article regarding the Jollibee Scandal Controversy we wrote that the Jollibee company was trying to cease the proliferation of the video itself. However, with Youtube, it may be hard to do that. The video scandal is a regular search in Youtube.
So I checked out Alexa today, and who would have guessed it, Youtube’s traffic has been at a plateau ever since the deal with Google. As you know, Youtube was acquired by google for 1.65 billion in stock back in October 9. Youtube was founded in 2005 and in one year they have hit the goldmine.
The deal in my opinion is way overpriced, but I have to commend Google on its very fast move on this deal. I believe the deal took less than a week before it was closed. Contrast this with Yahoo who is failing miserably in its acquisition of Facebook a social community portal comparable to Myspace.
So, why do you think the stagnant traffic movement of Youtube? From the day the rumor started to circulate regarding the Youtube acquisition, the Youtube community has been fiercely combative about the move. In just 1 year, Youtube has succeeded in growing a very loyal core group of users, and some analyst contend that this may hinder Youtube’s progress. I doubt that progress will be hindered, and I think the stagnant or flat traffic since the Google deal may just be due to transition. We really shouldn’t give way to any speculation or forward looking statements until around 3 months, then we may be able to tell more clearly where exactly Youtube is headed.
However, this should still be a concern for google if they don’t want this acquisition to turn out like other failed internet companies that were all too common a few years back during the dotcom bubble burst.
