Tingog is Time Magazine’s Person of The Year!
That’s right, Tingog.com has been chosen as Time Magazine’s Person of The Year!
OK, maybe I’m exaggerating. But, in a nice twist to things, this yearly honor has been bestowed upon… Well.. Everyone who has contributed to the information contained within the infinite realm of The Internet.
Time has called us all “People of The New Digital Democracy”. The advent of Youtube, Myspace, Facebook, and all other community generated websites. Including of course blogs, weblogs, journals, personal webspaces (this includes Tingog.com of course). In the year that was dominated by The Iraq War, Typhoon Reming, Charter Change, Consituent Assembly matters, Politics, Showbiz, etc., we overlooked what made all these things possible for us to see. It was our very own cohorts, friends, colleagues, and fellow bloggers that broke the big news, took us deep into the Israeli-Palestinian crisis, the devastation of Typhoon Reming, the intricacies of Charter Change, and even the humorous proliferation of “Hello Garci”, stupid Youtube videos, Friendster personal pages, and other Web 2.0 goodies.
The Philippines in this matter has been opened up to the world. Individuals now have a sense of the variety and mix of personalities in The Philippine scene. And of course, Tingog.com’s main focus of giving Voice to individuals is certainly in stride with what Time Magazine has highlighted this year. That Millions of individuals now have a platform for their 15 minutes of fame.
