The 22nd Anniversary Of EDSA Revolution
February 25, 1986. Where were you? A great deal of many Filipinos remember and know exactly what they were doing on that day. This was the day, when Filipinos across the nation, and the rest of the world also found out where Ferdinand Marcos was. And it was the important fact that he was not in MalacaƱang. He was overthrown, the result of what we now know as People Power.
As we celebrate this anniversary, we realize that this celebratory event will coincide with a more present and ongoing process of making our current president accountable. I would have thought that at the moment, she would no longer be in MalacaƱang, but alas she is still there. It should never even have gone this far, considering the fraud that happened in the 2004 elections, but alas it has gone the distance.

This 22nd Anniversary is momentous because it is coming at a time where The Arroyo Administration is again facing a public outcry for the cease and desist of the pervasive corruption that is flying in front of the eyes of The Filipino public. It is momentous, because we again realize a reality that we are again being governed by a self serving administration with no sense of moral servitude or even a sense of what morality actually is. We’ve seen this play out before, but who knew we would be coming back to it, 22 years later.
There will be mass rallies occurring all throughout the land, to commemorate EDSA and to fight again for the right of Filipinos to be governed by a just and moral president. The goal, as it has been for a long time now in our history, is to have government that serves the people. And sadly, this is not the situation we face today.
The Situation? Extra-judicial killings, a blitz against media and journalists, kidnapping, abductions, corruption, wiretapping, and stolen elections.
And so, 22 years have passed. If we don’t wake up from this corruptive sleep, we may find ourselves again, 22 years from now, having come full circle back to the same place, and wondering why we waited.
