Malu Fernandez: Needs To Know What Witty Means

Malu Fernandez’s contention that no one gets her “acerbic wit” is maybe why she remains clueless. Any sane and logical person would not be able to understand any statement if it is senseless and illogical. The fact that she thinks this sort of writing is witty is something that leaves this reader scratching his head. The article, comes from the writing of an individual, whom I feel must be a nitwit herself.

The more accurate description of her article may simply just be acerbic, but it doesn’t mean that it is a logical, correct, or even decent critique. When does an opinion cross the line in which it becomes irresponsible and even discriminatory? It’s a fine line, but I have no doubt, and many others will agree that the line between responsible and irresponsible writing was crossed with the article of Malu Fernandez.

The shameful attempts of wit was altogether missed, and the excuse that followed thereafter was something almost bringing this writer from the point of anger to outright massive indignation. Witty is the writing of Jessica Zafra, witty is the wonderful videos of Christine of HappySlip, but the writing of Malu Fernandez deserves to be buried from the halls of columns that should never have seen the light of day.

The fact that People Asia or even Manila Standard have not issued any apologies shows the lack of responsibility to its readers, and thus in effect, telling the public that this kind of language of discrimination is acceptable.

This should be the second to the last of the articles that I will write about the shameful and misguided Malu Fernandez. As many will notice, the articles are short, but not sweet, this is because they were written separately, and I thought they should be separated, to give distinction on the points that I wished to make.

During my mid-morning breaks for coffee, taking some time off from the real world, the world that Malu Fernandez herself seems to be totally unaware of, I have chosen to write these articles.

If you wish to make a difference, then read the article after this, as I will lay out a plan against this outrageous and discriminatory article and the Malu Fernandez who wrote it.

  2. we can say that ms fernandez is indeed fortunate to belong to the elite group but i dont think that the elite group is also privileged to discriminate those who do not belong with them. and i also dont think that discrimination means wit to the elite.

i have high regard to these elites for their breeding, but ms fernandez have surely missed her “good moral and right conduct” lessons, haven’t you ms fernandez?

you and the politicians in your family could not save the phil economy alone ms fernandez. the phil government is very appreciative of OFWs’ dollar remittances, except you i assumed. maybe, you deserve those words from my fellow OFWs, insensitive fat INGRATE!!!

  3. I do get the feeling that she’s trying way too hard to get noticed. She was a nobody when that hated article came out. Probably wants to be the next tim yap or something. Hay buhay, now I know why I our country is in deep shit, its because of insensitive oinkers like MALU.

  4. if she thinks that was witty, she isn’t a very good writer. i could hardly stand to read the whole article, it was a pack of pretentious, “i’m so rich and fabulous” drivel. notice how most of it wasn’t even about the trip? everything was a mention of her rich socialite friends, her designer this and that. it’s so sad that such a shallow person writes for such a well-known magazine.

  5. Malu Fernandez has breeding. Swine breed.

  6. how do we know that malu fernandez is not fictional? maybe somebody wrote the articles to fire up the people and bring up the stat hits up manila standard (as we know, it’s not the most read newspaper in manila anyway). it may be possible that it’s a scam perpetuated by MS itself. conspiracy!!!

  7. Herb, for one thing I know she’s not a fictional character. If my memory serves me right, she maybe have been the same Malu Fernandez in UST Fine Arts. She was about 3 years older than me. She needed 2 belts connected to each other to complete the great 80’s look of huge drop waisted buckle belts. One was not enough!!!I could be wrong.

But anyways, if she were thin, hot and young, maybe, just MAYBE we could forgive her for lack of understanding of what is really out there. But HELLO, she is twice the age of Paris Hilton and 4 times her size… so that definitely is un-cute. It’s condescending and ignorant. Her writing is not even witty. “When the going gets tough, the tough go shopping?” How baduy is that? C’mon… and elite girl can think of something better pleaseee. And Axe cologne? Couldn’t you even think of something more updated? And what’s the name dropping all about? IS she so insecure about herself she has to make everyone know what she uses and wears?

I think the OFWs are a great bunch. I am one. Well, I consider myself a kababayan even if I’m on an expat package. I am not afraid to make halubilo with them at the airport. Geeez I even cry when I see the whole family pick them up at the airport (while I merely wait under letter P for my driver to pick me up).

She is not alone to blame- her editors should have done their jobs and edited her. Although don’t have her fired. That means her whole dessert budget getting wiped out. It would be nice if she squeezes in another economy size seat and see the flight attendant pass her the extension seat belt.

  8. Manila Standard is owned by the Razons who also belong to the elite category. Why will they fire out a fellow elite. One thing for sure however both Malu and the Razons did not earn their money. Their parents did. [editor's note, this comment belongs to another person also named Nick]

  9. Using funny, hilarious, humorous words on her apology for the OFW attitudes (that was happened i’m sure kung excited sila sa pag uwi with overwhelming happiness na makikita uli nila ang mga mahal nila sa buhay)is unfair. Axe and charlie cologne(na syang kaya ng maliliit na manggagawang pinoy)against Jo malone na kaya nyang bilhin?Insulto iyon pati sa may ari ng Mga Brand..and lastly, being with this People(OFW),what everybody knows ay Bagong Bayani ng PILIPINAS,ay GOD given hell to her???IYAN ANG MAHIRAP TANGGAPIN.

  10. she just needs to have another economy class seat just to fit in! About her so called bruises, gurl there is nothing wrong with the seats of the economy class but with your size and how you carry yourself while seating.

In fact, you can not even be considered as elite because of your attitude. Being elite is not all about fame and riches but also having a good attitude, clean heart and someone who inspires other people.

By the way, i got a nice title for you….

MY BIG FAT GREASY ANUS-LIKE MOUTH!

  11. The article of Malu is simply acerbic, a direct attack to OFWs and lower class Filipinos in general.

I can’t quite figure out how the article can be witty. I don’t understand how wearing Axe cologne or Charlie cologne and being an OFW would make someone want to slash her wrist just being with you on the plane.

I thought that when one has been to a lot of places, her understanding widens. You start to see the world in a different view, your wisdom grows but in the case of Malu, her travels to different places taught her nothing. Maybe her travels has given pleasure to her senses but produced nothing in her mind. Eventhough Malu has been to a lot of places, her world is so small.

  12. Hello Guys,

Since this so-called “diva” took it as a personal offense to be with lower socio-economic class” Filipinos [what the f@*k was she doing in economy class anyway, if she's soooo "up-there", harhar]stereotyped them and put them in a trashbin, I think it is best we counter with a very personal stereotyping of our own[im not an OFW, but I want my licks in too..]

Ms Malu, I think you are not insensitive, I think you are simply unhappy. You have all these “accessories” to replace an ALL-TOO-HUMAN need for LOVE! this “poverty” of yours, unlike the material-kind, CAN NEVER BE FULFILLED!

This is your curse, “Everyone you meet will always make you unhappy” and “everywhere you go will just be another hell”.

I pity you, you have to put people down—-to make you feel superior. You have to surround yourself with useless, cold, material belongings to fulfill your lack of love. Such unhappiness in you is deep, aand you carry it always, till the day you die.

You have no “cause” to fight. You have no person to “die for”. You will always be alone[maybe pampered pets].

A person only has around 80 christmasses in life. How much of yours is left? How much of it will be spent in contempt with others? How much of it will be remembered?

I feel very sorry for you.
Now go and devour the latest fashion trend. It is as fleeting and unimportant as your life.

  13. I’ve never heard/seen other lifestyles columnists like Maurice Archache or Tessa Prieto-Valdez insulting OFWs in their columns. It’s because they have good breeding and they don’t boast they’re riches. Da Diva Bitch Fernandez surely knows Axe and Charlie colognes because she uses these to her daily routine (i think she’s a he in real world). But I’m sure she’s just guessing that while she’s on the plane because no OFW use a cologne when on vacation…! What does she think of us, can’t buy those expensive perfumes??? And she thinks that “only the upper class” reads her columns. Wow. This really sucks. Your column is not witty, funny and humorous at all. And to Manila Standard/Peoples Asia Magazine; shame on you. You allowed this bitch to degrade and insult OFWs like me who make the country’s economy alive because of our dollar remmitances. How much we sent so far? 8 billion $ ??? Next time you wander in another land Miss Bitchy, try to visit Laloma or Batangas first and you will see your ancestors and relatives bravely hanging in the bamboo sticks! Mang Tomas would be delighted to be part of, though… :)

  14. To atone for her sins to mankind, Malu Fernandez, a swine disguised as a human being, should do the following rituals:

For being such a foul mouth, Malu Fernandez needs to wash her mouth with Holy Water. She can go to Sta. Cruz Church or Binondo Church, where the Holy Water is always available at the entrances of both churches. There is no need to ask for permission from the priests for what you are going to do with the Holy Water, Malu. In fact, they’d be happy to give you more should the need arise.

For using her hands to write acerbic wits at the expense of the long suffering and hardworking OFWs, Malu Fernandez should be crucified in Pampanga next Good Friday.

After her crufixion, Malu Fernandez’s oversized, cholesterol-rich torso should be fed to the wild boars in Manila Zoo. But save her head for roasting and display at Mang Tomas Lechon in La Loma. (Sadly, no cemetery in the Philippines would allow a pig disguised as a human being to be buried in its premises.)

  15. I’m beginning to believe that Manila Standard Today is a racist newspaper, tsk, tsk, tsk. I wonder what Vic Agustin can say about all this.

  16. Enrique T. Dominguez on August 22nd, 2007 at 2:29 pm

why waste internet space and time on this pretender? A vermin needs better attention.

  17. Malu Fernandez is a glamorised “BYAHERA” who earned money buying and selling RTW to the very people she maligned (not the OFWs but the Filipino as a whole). Calling her an Elitist, Rich Snob is actually a lie and a way of glamourising her. Let’s just call her what she is… an delusional wannabe social climber! Period.

  18. I don’t know why media allowed irresponsible columnist like Malu Fernandez published non-sense articles like these that downgrades not only heroes like the OFWs but entire Filipinos.

She doesn’t deserve to be called a writer or columnist achievements wise OFWs are noble people like saints they deserve to be respected not to be laughed at with, a classy person like Malu are the laughing stack of the society pretending to be highly educated but don’t reflect on what they do. You are to be ashamed of yourself. What a shame.

Great writers and columnist ought not to have a colleague like Malu Fernandez.

  19. She’s not even CONSISTENT. No one probably noticed her writing with this initial piece and went on to INVENT and tried to be funny (NOT) on the next.

    http://www.yehey.com/travel/articles.aspx?pn=1&id=158003

Also, everyone BOYCOTT LUSCIOUS store/s as she owns it. Make her eat humble pie!

Her namedropping (Rustan’s scions) is embarrassingly ridiculous. She’s a cow, a social climbing wannabee cow!

P.S. Don’t forget to bombard complaints & boycott The Philippine Star, Manila Standard, Asia Magazine.

Write to the three Companies for thier help to pull out thier adverstisement from the said publication: UNLIEVER Philippines, REVLON.

UNTIL SHE & THOSE PUBLICATIONS APOLOGIZE PROPERLY!!!

if she takes economy class and is soooo fat…she is not elite. she does not have money for vicky belo, calayan, or marie france. and if she challenges us readers “if we dont like her writing, we should stop reading her” then just do it. no more reading her ASAP so she will be out of job ASAP. it’s a waste of time reading her. nothing to gain, no wit no humor, no sense, no logic, nothing.

  21. ISANG PANAWAGAN SA AKING MGA KAPWA PILIPINO AT OFWs:

    BOYCOTT LUSCIOUS!

    BOYCOTT MANILA STANDARD!

it’s time to put some teeth in our vehemence and distaste!

let’s show this Malu Fernandez that we, the OFWs, deserve all the respect as WE are the ones keeping this country afloat!

  22. anyway…i think all newspapers and
    magazines with lifestyle sections
    should come up with statements
    regarding the malu fernandez issue.

    lifestyle writers like
    maurice..julie…ethel…
    tim…thelma and celine must
    experience life as ordinary citizens.

    subukan nilang magtinda ng
    balut..mani…barbeque at kung anu-ano
    pang pagkain sa mga sidewalk.

    subukan nilang maglinis ng kanilang
mga kuwarto at banyo nang walang
    tulong sa mga domestic helpers,
    imported cleaning gadget or product.
subukan nilang mamili at tumawad sa
    presyo ng mga isda..karne..gulay at
iba pang bagay sa mga palengke.

subukan nilang umakyat sa mga bundok
    gamit ang sandalyas o
    tsinelas…magtanim ng palay ng naka-
    paa…at maglaba gamit ang kanilang
    mga kamay

subukan nilang tumulong sa mga taong-
    grasa..o may matinding kapansanan.

di pwede sa kanila yung pagdo-donate
ng blood, relief goods, medicines and
the like for photo-op purposes. di rin
pwede yung pagsusulat sa filipino or
    taglish para ma-validate ang kanilang
    pagiging masa. such situations remind
me of my rich and social-climbing
orgmates in college who are fond of
    directly or indirectly belitting their
    ordinary-looking orgmates.

    nakakalungkot na hanggang ngayon ay
patuloy ang class struggle dito sa
pilipinas. di ka tatanggapin ng iba
    kung wala kang mamahaling
    kotse..laptop..mobile phone…credit
    cards…p-d-a…damit…sunglasses
    sapatos..medyas…pati underwear. di
ka ring papansinin kung ikaw ay
    mataba..maitim..payat…pangit na
    mukha..bunge..mabaho ang hininga o
    singit-singitan.

  23. I’ve read the article awhile ago. I really don’t know
if she really is an educated person. Having a column
in a certain magazine, travelling on certain places,
having money etc… that does’nt proved a thing. It
only shows how “coniotic” she was. I really don’t
know if the said magazine should be proud having that
kind of writer. Is that company and writer really
that desperate enough to gamble, just to gain profit
and popularity at the expense of the new heroes of the
20th century … the OFW’s? Do they loose their sense
of patriotism or are they loosing their mind? Do they
still have the sense of decency? I’m sure they have a
way with it … as it always does …
“It’s the freedom of the press”
Congratulations to the magazine owner, I’m sure their
    sales rocketed already.
    Congratulations also to the
writer … the true “BANYAGA NG SARILING BANSA” you really made a name. They
are now the talk of the town. Congratulations also to
the University where she graduated. You really made a
“GARBAGE” out of your prestigious university.

    …’MABUHAY KAYO MGA .. P&$*$*#&&# NYO!’

  24. I guess my response to this one would be too late now as I just received the email from a friend. Wow!!! Malu wrote something heavy ( as heavy as her being FAT ) against us OFW’s….

She thinks that she is way above us? haler! We have travelled more than her and for sure we worked hard for everything..unlike her who has to get the chance to travel only because of her work….

I am an OFW working in a Hotel in Dubai…and am proud of it…
I studied in Paris and I have travelled the world, I just happened to come back from my vacation in Milan and we have signature stuffs more than her…so as the rest of all OFW’s…

By the way..from my trip last week I was greeted by a Kabayan who was working in a restaurant near Piazza Navona in Rome….I was so happy and even told him that am an OFW too from Dubai…..

We should stop pretending…whatever we wear or whatever passport we will be holding….at the end of the day, We are still Filipinos…

Malu, we pity you coz you being FAT and Ugly needs to hide and use signature or designer stuffs…but it wont change you…

  25. i think that person needs to see a psychiatrist. she definitely has issues aside from being fat.

  27. Just to add…
If Malu Fernandez was instead on a flight full of Caucasians, let’s say on another Western aircraft… what do you think will this fellows think of her wearing her perfume to mask her true smell?
I bet you it wouldn’t be pleasing. But the difference with these Caucasians and the Malu Fernandez is that they will politely keep it to themselves as it will be offensive to others.
If she were in an aircraft full of Caucasians, will she be considered for being a “writer”, or just one of us “stinky” asians as she puts it. And in her case… a wannabe (being born not a royalty yet pretending to be of a different breed).
To her I say… look at yourself in the mirror (7 times 77 times) before passing judgement to others.

    DEAR MALOU,

I dont know you and the hell I care about you, self-proclaimed fashionista. Why don’t you go to Belo first before you clad off your 10-lbs.-fat showing in your pics? Shame on you…

Going to Belo for liposuction for $5k is nothing for your OFW kababayans from US,Dubai,Hongkong,Japan,London…Maybe you are a frustrated visa-applicant one time in your life that you shifted the other way around…hahaha! You sound so funny and kawawa,a trying hard world traveler.

If you happened to be in California, don’t make a mistake in going to any Asian Grocery, you will be chopped by those Viet butchers, worse by your own kababayans .Your fat-belly will make a good “HUMBA”.By the way,you know what’s humba my fatty-fashionista?Its a yummy-yummy street-cook menu in Cebu.

Seriously, from a helicopter’s point-of-view my funny oinker Malou,Im not wondering why our country Pilipinas, is still what it is today. It is also because of your kind too,trying-hard mediocre Filipinos with unresolved colonial mentality. When are we going to act as one and work to make our country back to her feet again?

“Filipinos are little brown people in their G-strings sitting on the mountain of gold”,an old statement I heard from a fellow international volunteer; When do we move from here?

Malou, with your wit,you can make a valuable contribution.

    Fellow OFW’S,

I read this issue last week from a friend, and what Malu Fernandez wrote is obviously offensive to us. It’s very unfortunate that we hear such comment from a fellow Filipino, so we can’t blame others for making a hate campaign against her and even foreigners too (refer to the open letter of Ingrid Holm).

Yesterday, Arab News (KSA English Daily) had an article about this issue and according to that report Malu Fernandez RESIGNED from 2 publications she’s connected with. And on that article there’s an internet blog address that you can post your comment. Ooops….but before you search and open the Pandora’s box out of your heart, please read below.

She said that she never thought it will reach to this point of her career that people send a hate SMS, MMS, e-mail and had made a hate blog against her, she’s insisting that she was making true to herself and Arab News didn’t stated categorically that she’s was sorry for that.

For my personal opinion, as i said we can’t blame fellow OFW’S for reacting so nasty and infuriating actions against Malu Fernandez, I fully understand them but, sorry to say I don’t want to accede on this. What is happening right now would serve her a lesson that she will never forget. Perhaps she just wants to be true to herself, but the ways of her being true to herself by writing irresponsible comments and belittling OFW as a whole by how they look and smell just show how PRIDE exalting her above all. It is God, who allowing her to see how lofty she is.

A good friend shared his thoughts about discrimination during one of our weekly meetings (as I thought DISCRIMINATION is the subject of this issue couple with belittling us as an OFW). He said, we Filipinos are easy to grudge with foreigners who are discriminating us in so many ways…but we don’t realize that we doing the same to other nationality “we think” inferior than us. We even have nicknames for them like “itik, ipis, pana etc. etc blah blah blah” I’m sure you know what I’m talking about right (especially those OFW based in ME)?

    How we simply discriminate them…

In service bus, we want to be in front – let them be in the back dahil mabaho sila.
Think of our office mate, how we treat them comments like akala mo kung sino la naming alam, o tinuruan lang yan tapos kala mo kung sino na.

The point is we easily reacting to a situation and get sizzling hot that we forget we are guilty of the same. I just reminded what James 4:6 says, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”

Let us therefore, include Malu Fernandez on your prayer lists that God will give her grace to be humble enough and sorry for her mistakes and do apologize. And all OFW’S will do the same, whether we are using SR5 or SR500 worth of perfume brand it doesn’t matter at all! Besides, we use to smell otherwise everyday and thanking God.

Jesus said, “If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her.” John 8:7-8NIV

  33. actually, kilala ko yang si malu. i met her 2004 here in Rome. but after a year no pansin na sya sa aming magkakaibigan kasi nga meron syang ugali na hindi maganda. so now, pag nandito sya sa Rome (for a short trip) di na namin sya pinapansin. we don´t even want to talk to her everytime na tatawag sya para sabihin na nasa Rome sya. and sorry to tell this pero ang totoo nyan sawa na kaming magkukumare na ilibre sya palagi for a capuccino. not only that, wala naman kasi syang kwentang kausap eh. as in talagang walang kwentang kausap. For you malu: i hope maging lessons na sa iyo yan.

  34. I just read a few scripts about this Malu Fernandez debacle today. And I can sense a lot of hate and inis.. I can’t blame these people, it really is very disappointing to see discriminatory comments especially from your fellow kabayans.

With regards to politicians helping bridge gaps; why not have a law against saying something bad against heritage, countrymen and country as a whole. We’ve had several ludicrous and crazy laws before so why not something that makes sense…

Also, would recommend a slap in the hand on editor/s involved for letting something so offensive and discriminatory go public (twice). Don’t we have an MTRCB sort for newspapers and magazine.

  36. Just read about this…and I can’t stop crying.
I am one of a few thousands OFW’s here in Singapore.
    Poor Malu Fernandez….

  37. i think 1 shang fake elite kind of woman. i knew a lot of elite people na ndi nmn gnyan ang pg-uugali. didn’t she think ang mga OFW ang ngdadala ng dolyares s bansa nting pilipinas????!!!! n cila ang mga bgong bayani ng bayan. feeling ko, wlang pumapansin jan kya gnyan n lng sha mgpapansin. pls lng, pnsinin nyo nmn sha. 38. She is now learning her lesson kung hindi lang sya nagtanda sa pinagagawa natin malamang hindi lang sya baboy…. frozen ms piggy na tawag sa kanay sa sobrang manhid

  39. I’m not an OFW but a lawyer practicing here in Makati. While I believe Malu Fernandez is entitled to exercise her press freedom, it was highly unwarranted for her to make such disparaging remarks about her fellow citizens working abroad.

Her apology was also half-hearted – she managed to fire more sharp barbs – e.g., the OFWs do not read anything “thicker than a magazine.” I know that nurses, doctors and engineers among you read reams of highly technical documents. This isn’t witty at all, but more like ignorance.

The Manila Standard cannot wash its hands with the claim that its columnists enjoy editorial freedom. When columnist Vic Agustin of the Inquirer was captured on film throwing water on the face of political activist Renato Constantino in a press conference – which boorish behavior he repeated in a talk show by dousing himself with water to even things up – he had the sense to resign before he got fired. Well, Vic Agustin is now with the Manila Standard.

Birds of the same feathers … Manila Standard ought to clean up its house.

    WMG

  40. Ms. Malou Fernandez, what a pitty of a woman. You know i know a lot of elite persons and their breeding is not as excellent as yours. I pity your parents coz i know they did their best to give you proper breeding but seems that they failed.

I am one of the OFW (although i am on an expat package) and you know what, i have been to Europe and Asia and i think most of the people know how Europeans body are, but they didn’t even complain sitting in what so called economy seats. So does this mean that your body is more huge than them? Or you just like others commented that you only needs attention. OFWs are our country’s main source remittance. And let me tell you, if all OFWs lost their jobs, this country might not survive but if Malu Fernandez lost her job, no effect even in the elite persons. you know in the end of the day, you are still a Filipino, without your perfume, you a re a lousy woman( i should call you a lady but the title “lady” is not appropriate for you). When you wake-up you have the same morning glory(muta) as Filipinos do, you are don’t even smell fresh because correct me if i am wrong but you snore quiet loud (i hope i am wrong) and you might produce a lot of saliva during sleeping(laway). And when you die, your Joe Malone will not make any difference, you will be buried with the same soil as normal people are buried in.

One advice, please meditate just once and look at the mirror, look very closely at yourself every detail of it and compare it to the ugliest person OFW person you remember during your flight. And i tell you, they have a lot more beauty than you do inner and out. And since you have enough money to buy Joe Malone and other expensive stuff, why not try to donate money to those less fortunate people around you.

  42. Jesus, Mary, and Joseph!!!I felt my blood pressure surge to a record high when I read her article. And true, it was not about her travel..it was about shoving to our faces that she’s God’s gift to humanity. How can a writer be so clueless and insensitive about the OFWs? She is bad cholesterol personified, thus, she will clog the heart and brain of every human being who will read her trash…see what happened?
As a person, I would like to apologize to everyone for the behavior of this creature.
To Malu, I pity you so much. Do you think that a boar in it’s forties would be cute acting like Alicia Silverstone? I’m just curious…do you have real friends? How did your parents react? I am just so fortunate not to have personally known someone like you. There is a God.

  43. I just read the article a little while back.. I was trying to get the Humor or wit out of her article – as she was saying, insinuated on her column – but I didnt get it…. I was trying to be opened minded.. but having family members and friends that are working abroad triggered my boiling point to the premier level…I wouldnt be surprised if people would throw stones at her because of her irresponsible comments.. And alot of people would agree with me that she is not in the position to say such things to people in any which way possible and to think that her column came from a lifestyle magazine that should promote asia in a good way.. I also read her response to the emails swarming at her after that publication – that a commoner can never understand because of social norms or socioeconomic indifference.. that she is of elite life status or because she is situated above poverty level…for me, that is very disturbing, this is not really about social classes but a person just being purely rude… On my last note.. if she hasn’t got anything good to say, then dont…

  44. malu fernandez from the elite class? but the way she writes … reminds u of the sound u hear from your favorite palengera

  45. What’s Joe Malone, anyway? Never heard of that here in d US..AXE, yes, for Men…Charlie for Women…does she really know what she’s talking about? Cologne for Men and Perfume for Women. I think she just want attention to herself (as if), a spoiled brat that never grow up, got used to be stuffed when she’d have a fit when she was young, thus how she been now even in her (40’s)? She’d put down people that won’t fill her eyes, just to make her feel good.

Who cares about you teaching fashion? You’re no fashionista at all!! So, what if they didn’t pay you much, you’re filthy rich, as you said??? Next time, you get bogged down on economy/coach, pay double, so that they’ll give you two-seats. That’s a practice here in the US, if you’re percieved double, you’ll pay double. You can cry discrimination too, now it’s your turn to be humiliated.

  46. Just forgot to put a check for the follow-up comments…

  47. dapat ganito mangyari sa kanya…this is an email forward which i think ms fernandez can learn from…..

Scene took place on a BA flight between Johannesburg and London. A White woman, about 50 years old, was seated next to a black man. Obviously disturbed by this, she called the air Hostess. “Madam, what Is the matter,” the hostess asked. “You obviously do not see it then?” She responded. “You placed me next to a black man. I do not agree to sit next to someone from such a repugnant group. Give me an alternative seat.” “Be calm please,” the hostess replied. “Almost all the places on this flight are taken. I will go to see if another place is available.”

The Hostess went away and then came back a few minutes later. “Madam, Just as I thought, there are no other available seats in the economy class. I spoke to the captain and he informed me that there is also no available seat in the business class. All the same, we still have one
    place in the first class.”

Before the woman could say anything, the hostess continued: “It is not usual for our company to permit someone from the economy class to sit in the first class. However, given the circumstances, the captain feels that it would be scandalous to make anyone sit next to someone so disgusting.”

She turned to the black guy, and said, “Therefore, Sir, if you would like to please collect your hand luggage, a seat awaits you in first class. At that moment, the other passengers who were shocked by what they had just witnessed stood up and applauded. This is a true story.

  48. Ngayon ko lang nabasa ‘tong article na’to but I would still like to share my thoughts.

I share a good part of my daily life with people in the upper class, “mga elitista kung baga”. And you can expect that they’ll be prim and proper in every way like any elite would be. Educated and with a “Cambridge” accent to match pa nga. Kaso ang kapansin-pansin, their jokes are not funny at all! They would make political, racial and socio-econonic references with their jokes and for some reason, find it funny. Kakaiba!! This are the kind of jokes elitists fancy.

Malungkot kase kaya laging nasa kusina!!

  49. I couldn’t understand some parts of this article rnandez Controversial Article Not Witty | Tingog.com | The Voice of The Filipino, but I guess I just need to check some more resources regarding this, because it sounds interesting.

  50. My father worked on a cruise ship for 20 years. He retired this year when my youngest sister graduated from college. Prior to that cruise ship gig, my father has been traveling the world even before he was in his twenties. He never went to college yet he has been to all the continents except antarctica. my father was educated furhter by his travels.and our family adheres to my grandfather’s words; “hindi lahat ng nag-aral ay natuto, at hindi lahat ng natuto ay nag-aral”. It is so infuriating to read her ignorant comments about our modern day heroes. these ofw’s sacrifice time away from loved ones just to be able to provide a better life to their families. this fact is obviously lost to ms fernandez. and by the way, what makes a person qualified to be called “elite”? money? fame? can we not use this term to refer to the moneyed? to be elite is to excel in your chosen field, not by simply having tons of money. you can be rich yet ignorant (exhibit a, ms fernandez) poor yet elite or enlightened. i hope this serves as a lesson to all of us. being rich does not give you the license to malign and ridicule poor people. and besides ms. fernandez, you’re NOT THAT rich. if you are, you would be traveling first class wouldn’t you?

  51. if malu fernandez thinks she’s SO great she can jet from one island to another paradise and by having enough resources to do so she can demean anybody,

why did she fly economy like how we “the lesser beings according to her” do?

  52. INGRATE INDEED!!!! I hate such people…..

according to Mel Gibson’s line in the film “The Patriot”
    “I prefer dumbness”

I don’t say that ofw’s are dumb…. but compared to the issue, Malu Fernandez looks to our OFW’s as “dumb” and “uncanny”….

  53. hindi naman sa pagmamayabang….. I’m also one of them…. but I don’t feel she belongs to us well-bred elites…. she can’t even fly with Singapore Airlines first class, one of the MOST EXPENSIVE IN THE WORLD…..
