Cris Anthony Mendez Still Searching For Justice
I had thought of not blogging for the day, but I’m compelled by emotion to almost write a lengthy article for Cris Anthony Mendez (CA). The victim of hazing, who’s life was cut too short, while those involved walk away. Justice is yet to be served. The cowards of Sigma Rho, The Guards of Violence, have done nothing to even attempt to help. Those involved are still on the run. Let them run, sooner or later justice will catch up, and I hope they feel the full strength of the law, and then some.

What great actions of public service could Cris have made as a lawyer? What courageous stands could he have undertaken? What good for the nation was he to be? We will never know.
His friends and family, they grieve, as do I. I may never have known CA, but his death is a tragedy I feel, knowing that there lies with Cris the potential to have served The Filipino People. His Voice was silenced, so we must continue for him. Many have lost a friend in Cris.
And the cowards who run from justice, the cowards of Sigma Rho who deny any wrongdoing, the cowards of Sigma Rho who do not submit themselves to the law, the coward members who fail to assist in providing information, they risk losing their soul for the sake of “brotherhood”.
Still searching are we. Justice it seems eludes us, it eludes Cris. But there are those who remember, we remember, and Cris is not forgotten.
I feel, the most memorable and meaningful tributes are always from family and close friends. Here’s a video tribute from a friend of CA,

Damn! Aren’t there anymore? Pathetic. This is the waning attention span of Filipinos these days. And may I say the media, who have all the resources in the world to at least do an update on this story. Many bloggers take their lead from media, but sad to say, media has chosen to sit this one out. But the biggest fault must go to Sigma Rho, who has done nothing, and without information, what else can we write? Tributes and articles, vigils and prayers. They are only a stand in for what we all truly want, JUSTICE FOR CRIS ANTHONY MENDEZ.

Justice delayed is justice denied. Cris is only one of the many victims of hazing whose cases up to now have not been solved. We already have an anti-hazing law; sadly, it is in the implementation of the law that are keeping these criminals scot-free.
