No Politics. Just A Prayer
With the impending “war” in Basilan, after the barbaric acts that saw the death of 14 marines, and the beheading of 10 of those marines, the government is set to enforce the arrest warrants of around 130 individuals who were deemed to be involved in the gruesome acts of barbarism.
At this point, when there are the lives of our heroic and fearless marines at stake. I think we we should pray for their safety. I will talk politics at a later time, maybe even later today. But this post, is respectfully in honor of those brave soldiers who are going into battle.
Make no mistake, my fellow Filipinos, this will not be an easy task, as those who the marines are after, have shown their barbaric ways already. And thus, we must all be prepared for anything that can happen in “war”.
My prayer for the Marines:
I pray for your safety, and I pray that even in battle, you take with you the knowledge that even in war, there is humanity. I pray that in battle you are courageous and will fight for the good of this nation. This may or may not be personal, nonetheless this is a battle for the dignity and honor of those who were beheaded. Your comrades, they are with you. In battle, you honor their existence. And in battle, the Filipino people, you can count on.
There can be no safety in numbers, but let your faith and love of family, love of nation, and love of God guide you in your mission.
In the depths of battle, and in the heat of gunfire, may your training be more than enough. But, I must say this, be prepared to give up your life, and if you lose it, so be it. Make your peace, and fight with all your might. The end is always around the corner for all of us, maybe yours is closer than mine, but this life that we lead is but a drop in the bucket of eternity.
May this war be the last. Pray for peace in the midst of this war, because this is the ultimate goal that we should all be working towards.
Good Luck. God Bless.
A brief note, I am a devout Catholic. There are some who will read this post, and take an opportunity to say that not all Filipinos are Catholic. Fair enough. But this is a personal prayer that I wish to make known to our servicemen. Even if you are not Catholic, I hope you understand, that whatever the politics, the soldiers always deserve our prayers.
The debate on policies and personalities, we can save for another post.
