Will Arroyo Supporters Face The Same Fate As U.S. Republicans?

Will Arroyo and her party members share the same fate as the Republican of The United States? Already, many opposition leaders are thinking exactly that. And I share their thoughts. I don’t necessecarily feel that the Administration has done a bad job, in fact there has been great deal of improvements that have been made. My point is that if the overall change in the economy and other programs instituted by this Administration does not trickle down to individuals, then these individuals will always want change.
And face it, if people want change, then seating supporters of the Administration may just be dethroned in next year’s elections.

Gloria Macapagal-ArroyoGeorge W. BushIn a parallel scenario, in just a span of 4 days, Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld resigns and Defense Chief Cruz also resigns. I don’t believe in such things as coincidence, and I’m not saying that these two events have any bearing on what will happen in next year’s elections. What I am saying though is that power changes hands. Those who want to hold on to power will do anything to keep the status quo. This is why we have elections to stop this kind of situation from taking place. And to always have the country moving forward in a positive direction.

The Constituent Assembly [A constituent assembly is a body elected with the purpose of drafting, and in some cases, adopting a constitution] that is being proposed by this admnistration and her supporters will not only stop the elections of 2007 from taking place, but will also push ahead other agendas meant to hold on to power. This is not a new plan or a new agenda. Marcos and Ramos had the same idea in mind. It is only this president that has had enough political clout to actually push through with many of these plans.

Defense Secretary CruzDonald RumsfeldOur democracy is strong, don’t get me wrong, and I still believe that the process and inner workings of our democracy will always prevail regardless of power mongers that lay claim to power.

Even with a concentrated effort on the Constituent Assembly, this administration still has to move forward and keep in mind that there are other policies and programs that The Republic still has to work at. What are these things? As I’ve said all along these are education, poverty, economy, family, a better health care for the people, better environmental policies, and so on.
