Who Should Concede? Zubiri, Pimentel, or Abalos?

Migz Zubiri and Koko Pimentel is still fighting for the 12th Senate spot. A month ago, I never would’ve thought that I would still be writing about the elections, but this is the scenario that The Comelec has put the entire Filipino people in, myself included. So, the question is, with the Maguindanao Votes still undecided, should we wait for the fraudulent results, or should one of the candidates concede?

Do we want Migz Zubiri to concede? He seems to be certain that he will win the Maguindanao election against Koko Pimentel (yes, it’s no longer the Philippine Elections, it’s the Maguindanao Elections). Zubiri wants the votes to be canvassed, no matter what. Whether they are authentic, he hasn’t even focused on that. And that is where I am skeptical with regards to Migz Zubiri. An honest politician, irregardless of his position, should be focusing on a clean election. And yet, unlike Koko Pimentel, his emphasis is not authenticity, securing witnesses of fraud, not even to complain about Lintang Bedol. His main advocacy at the moment is to canvass, canvass, and canvass at all cost.

And what about Koko Pimentel? What do we do with him? He seems to be in a David vs. Goliath showdown, and he being David. I’ve seen his interviews, and he just doesn’t do a good job in conveying to the public the reason why he wants the Maguindanao votes set aside. I think if he sets out a proper argument with the timeline that lead up to this situation, the country would at least be more interested. Even in his anger, I can’t tell whether he’s interested or not. Come on Koko, this is the Senate we’re talking about here, not the class presidency. His lawyer does a better job at explaining, I think he should just leave all the talking to his lawyer.

And then, we have Benjamin Abalos. He’s not a candidate, but judging form some of the statements and actions he has taken during the elections, you would think he was a campaign manager for TEAM Unity. Maybe he should concede, step down, and retire to another Archipelago where reason is not so important.

The Comelec is going to canvass come Hell or high water. They will not stop until they canvass The Maguindanao votes, who cares if Lintang Bedol took and then “lost” all the election documents. Who cares that the local officials are equally as slow footed as the top brass, and who cares, that it’s been over 1 month since the May 14th elections, probably enough time to fabricate some very well made election documents. As long as Koko Pimentel is happy and lands in the Senate. And as long as Benjamin Abalos is congratulated by the President for a job well done, then nothing we say seems to even have them giving their own actions a second thought.

I say, Migz Zubiri should concede the Senate race. And Abalos should concede that Maguindanao was the sloppiest and most brazen job of cheating since the Marcos regime. As for Koko Pimentel, I hope his proclamation comes soon. And I’m hoping for myself, that this ends soon, I’m really and honestly sick and tired of having to write about Abalos any longer.

  2. Listening to Migz insinuate that the witnesses were floated to discredit the polls makes me sick. The spoiled brat wouldn’t concede. He knows the heats have prepared the documents to give him the win, and Abalos just may agree with him.

I hope the evidence of fraud would be great enough that abalos would have no recourse but to proclaim Koko.
