True Intentions Of A Former Speaker
Is this a redemptive moment for Jose De Venecia, a Speaker who had high aspirations for President as well as Prime Minister, who in the last moments of his speakership, turned his back on his own president?
I have no doubt that by doing battle with Gloria and her allies, Jose De Venecia will finally bring out some of the anomalies, illegalities, and corrupt actions that the Arroyo Administration has made against the Filipino public.
But one question pops up when considering this action being taken by a politically embattled former speaker, and that is what took him so long? And this brings us back to an almost full circle from which Edsa Dos was sparked. And that was the turn of Chavit Singson against his former buddy Erap. We all know that Chavit’s reason for exposing Erap was nothing more than a feud and not with the nation’s interest at heart. In the same way, we all know that De Venecia’s turning of the back against Arroyo is nothing more than a political battle with the nation’s interest, once again, not at the heart of the decision.
After seeing the almost hour long speech from De Venecia as he was in the process of being ousted, I kept thinking to myself, let not the Filipino people be fooled by the true intention of this man. This is the man, who after all, impeded any means of the opposition to put the Arroyo Administration in check. This is the man who put politics over what was best for the nation. Believe me when I say this. Thank you Mr. Jose for the many skeletons you will expose, but what you fail to expose is the many skeletons you yourself have in your own closet.
De Venecia had his chance to do right for his nation many times over. He had a chance to expose the election fraud of 2004, he had a chance for far too long to let the impeachment complaint proceed its natural course. He had a chance to be furious over the political killings. He had a chance to expose illegal contracts, graft, and corruption. He had his chance for so many years, but the seat of power he had as Speaker of The House was no doubt a strong hold, as well as being the potential Prime Minister in a new Philippine Parliamentary, it was definitely enough to cloud his own morality. He had his chance to do right. And when he says that it is finally time to expose Arroyo, we have to remind Mr. Former Speaker that he had his chance each and every time when he was made purview, or maybe even participated in the illegalities of this Administration.
He had his chance.
So my Fellow Filipinos, let us watch the spectacle. As our own enemies of democracy destroy each other in their own selfish battle for power and political survival.
The true intentions of JDV is not doing what is right. In the end, backed to a wall, the real and true intentions of this man is of political survival. Nothing more.
I am sad, however, that in the end, the leadership of the Lower House is still under the control of the Administration. And in the end, it is the people who suffer a government that knows not the meaning of check and balance.

It’s War!
After that nearly hour long speech in which former speaker Jose De Venecia cited many illegalities of the Arroyo Administration, the question is if the opposition is willing to take him in as their ally.

better late than never. look, trapo JDV has many faults, and I’m no fan of Yoda de Venecia myself, but the timing of his removal is all wrong. The (real) reason for his removal is all wrong.
