SONA 2008 on July 28
This year The State of The Nation Address of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo will be held on July 28 just one month from now. The SONA of 2008 will be something that I think I will be more interested in than ever, seeing that last year was basically a commercial specifically on her SUPER REGIONS. I wonder, seeing that there have been revelations as to how these type of projects are implemented and how ‘greed is moderated’, because of The NBN deal, that maybe she may shy away from announcing these projects, especially if it will garner more commentary of how our nation has been sold to the highest bidder, in order to profit, to allegedly finance future political moves.
In any case the SONA of 2008 is going to be interesting, and I am sure, as a lame duck, that having any more bold initiatives will only make give Gloria’s enemies and critics ammunition to bombard her with comments of wanting to extend her term, and trust me, if I sense it anywhere in her speech, I’ll definitely let you know.

Napaka immature naman ng mga comments niyo ’bout PGMA’s SONA. That’s why the Philippines isn’t developing and improving ’cause Filipinos always jump to the conclusion. What did you do for your country? Hindi dapat ang president at government officials ang sisihin sa kahirapan na Pilipinas, blame all those hard-headed “nominal” citizens of our country. Walang ginawa kundi ang manghusga ng ibang tao, wala namang ma-prove sa sarili at sa bansa. What do you think will happen if we all follow the plans for the current and succeeding years? Success, right? Tayo lang naman ang nagpapahirap sa bansa at buhay natin.
Hindi man ma-provide ng government ang mga necessities natin, tayo na dapat ang gumawa ng paraan. Hindi yung lagi tayong umaasa. Teach ourselves to be independent. Sa 89 million population ng bansa, lahat ba ng yan ay mapapansin? No! But if we try to stand on our own, mababawasan ang pasanin ng Pilipinas.
Unemployment? We have enough jobs for the unemployed. Pero ano? Mas pinipili pa nilang tumambay at dagdagan ang crime rate ng bansa. Imagine, the government has been providing us enough oppotunities but still we dont grab it.
If you want to change the Philippines’ economic, political and moral standing, start within yourself!

Theres a saying that…”don’t judge the book at it’s cover because you might not know what’s the main thing inside”. Don’t go against with the authority because God put them in there places. Don’t mind if the are corrupt, not full filling there obligations or there height and appearance is not good. Because its already there fault not ours. Pagkatapos ko mapanood ang SONA ang nasa-isip ko maniniwala ba ako kay PGMA o hindi?.. kasi nung sinabi niya na 50 cents na ang kada txt, kaso nung nabigyan ng pahayag ang GLOBE sabi nila nagkatugma lang daw. Magkakaroon sila ng promo na 50 cents kada txt (napanood ko sa TV PATROL WORLD for the past few days). Dun pa lang magdududa ka na kong tama ba ang ibang sinabi niya. Anyway, kahit 50 cents ang kada txt makakatulong pa ba yan sa ating mamayan? Yes, anti-GMA din ako, para sa akin hindi nag-umpisa kay PGMA ang paghihirap ng Pilipinas kaya lang, dinadagdagan niya ng mga sugat ang ating bansa.
Anong sasabihin niyo? kasi ito ang ibinigay ng Panginoon sa atin?? “PAGHIHIRAP”…
Mali po yan, kaya nga tayo binigyan ng ISIP at TALINO upang makagawa tayo ng tamang bagay. Para sa akin ang sitwasyon ngayon ng Pilipinas ay kapit patalim na. Ang masasabi ko lang kumilos din tayo wag nating hayaan ang pangulo ang gumawa ng lahat. Sa mga may pamilya ipagpatuloy nyo po ang pagpupursigi para mabigyan nyo ng magandang kinabukasan ang inyong anak; sa mga guro wag niyong hayaan talikuran ng estudyante ang edukasyon SALUDO ako sa inyo; sa mga rebelde isipin nyo din ang iba! Hindi lang kayo ang naghihirap. Kung hindi niyo kayang tulungan ang iba, tulungan nyo muna ang inyong sarili at isa pa wag niyong ilagay ang batas sa inyong mga kamay; at ang pinaka importante sa lahat ay ang EDUKASYON. Before anything else, i am from Sibutu, Tawi-Tawi. Last SONA ni gloria before this SONA 2008 there she mentioned about the “Livelihood Project for the people of Sibutu.” Well, thanks to Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, she really allocated some funds for this said project. BUT, here comes the congressman of TAWI-TAWI.. shit… i will tell you unhesitatingly, it is publicly noticeable that he(Congressman) was grab the money for him alone. WHY? because the project is supposedly for the people of SIBUTU(the livelyhood project) particularly that was the fishpond i think. instead of the people of Sibutu who should benefit from the said project, the Congressman did benifit from it. what’s my point, Gloria must not always be blamed, its the LGU as well. but maybe we could blame the governance (system of government) here in the Philippines. Regarding the citizen who are blaming Gloria for the poverty, yes, its true, the price hike of several goods are making poor people more poorer.

The eighth state of the nation address (SONA)of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo I believe it reflect the “real” condition of the Filipino people. People from the government, church, business and civilians, students like me and men on the street have different reaction and points of views about the state of the nation address of our presidents. Some are still believe in what the President said but others were not so impressed by her speech. I wasn’t able to watched the Sona and I wasn’t also heard but I read it from the internet the whole statement that President Arroyo delivered to all Filipino people and to my fillow country men. I didn’t believe in what she was saying. The poor are still hungry, lining up for rice everyday for a limited kilo. The expanded VAT is still there. Her speech had no soul, sad to say. Sona must provide direction on major concerns which depicts the state of the nation of the past year. Not to report on what has been perceived as accomplishments of the government which she does not need to tell us because we know already. And for me no clapping is needed! We do not need free education only. We need quality education at the elementary and high school level especially in public schools. Increase the number of class rooms, hire more quality education graduate teachers, build schools in every barangay, and accommodate investments that will allow graduates to work in their field of expertise, so that few of our fillow country men go to abroad to have better job and have enough income for sustained their family in order to have food on thier own table at home and eat three times a day. The nation could only attain genuine development if the state develops the capabilities of its citizens. The Philippine government should focus more on improving the basic education system as well as social protection program as health security and make it available to everybody. She said that VAT stabilized the economy the people didn’t because they suffer more because of that VAT. Its a reason why prices of all our basic commodoties are rising. She says also the vat become source of subsidies but I think majority of the people did not benefit from it.
