Presidential Debate, John McCain and “That One”
As I watched The Presidential Debate with John McCain and Barack Obama just a few hours ago, there has come a realization that Barack Obama has an indeed proved his readiness, has indeed proved his presidential pedigree, above and beyond that of John McCain. When John McCain’s camp decided to step up its negative attack in the form of ads and Sarah Palin calling out Senator Barack Obama, it was a step back once again to the days of Karl Rove and his revving up the conservative base strategy. But when the personal attacks start to not only become rhetoric and then goes towards being an all out disrespect of a candidate, it’s nothing short of despicable.
Earlier last night, when John McCain referred to Senator Barack Obama as “That One” it took his candidacy from being desperate into the realm of despicable. When one cannot even respect their opponent, how can one lay claim to the highest and most important position in the land? This is no longer about issues for John McCain, because when he goes for the issues, he is beat, his platform is no longer about a better America, it is about desperation.
“That One”, it reminds me of when Ross Perot, a billionaire tycoon who ran for President in the nineties, who referred to African-Americans as “those people”.
What disrespect, an almost hint of racism, John McCain has lost me for good. His hero is Teddy Roosevelt? I believe, Karl Rove and George Bush eerily mirrors the heroes that John McCain is mimicking these days. What a real shame, America please wake up, the demeaning attitude of the McCain campaign should no longer have legs to stand on.
I’m pissed off because John McCain knows all the lies that are being flung at Senator Obama, and not only does he know about it, his camp is spearheading many of these attempts, including his nonchalant disrespectful statement addressing Barack Obama as “That one”.

I agree with you. I don’t know what happened to the John McCain of 2000 when America fell in love with him? I was undecided until last nights debate & now I’m going to vote for Obama.
As you know i totally agree with Sam. I will be decide to vote for obama
what do you expect from someone who kept pacing around while his opponent was talking? talk about disrespect.

As a 61 year old Vietnam veteran, I want to point out one very important issue about McCain that no one seems to have mentioned: His leadership quality. voters need to know that the Navy passed over McCain for promotion to admiral because of his temperament and lack of leadership qualities. If he wasn’t good enough to become an admiral why should the voters put him in the Oval Office?
Now, as a senior citizen, I feel it fair to question his age. Last night, at the debate, he simply looked as if were in a nursing home. His gait was unsteady and he looked very much like a grumpy old man.
McCain is an imbecile with nothing substantial to say. He’ll lose the election and that will restore my faith in a country that has so dissapointed me in the last couple of years. Obama represents a shift in paradigm and we will see the U.S. move forward to a new more complex world. VOTE OBAMA 2008
Obama was crisp, no doubt about it. What we have seen in this election is that Obama is the only constant. He seems prepared and focused and he is very orifginal in his thinking. The rest seem to try to keep-up with Obama. In short, he is the pack leader. And he had displayed his unique ability to lead in many ways.
Calm and collected person. Which is what we need in our president in this volatile time in history of our nation and the world.
TO ALL MY FRIENDS….LIBERAL OR CONSERVATIVE…FYI only
George Bush has been in office for 7 1/2 years. The first six the economy was fine.
A little over one year ago:
1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high;
2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon;
3) the unemployment rate was 4.5%.
4) the DOW JONES hit a record high–14,000
5) American’s were buying new cars,taking cruises, vacations overseas, living large!…
But American’s wanted ‘CHANGE’! So, in 2006 they voted in a Democratic Congress and yes–we got ‘CHANGE’ all right. In the PAST YEAR:
1) Consumer confidence has plummeted ;
2) Gasoline is now over $4 a gallon & climbing!;
3) Unemployment is up to 5.5% (a 10% increase);
4) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $12 TRILLION
DOLLARS and prices still dropping;
5) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure.
6) as I write, THE DOW is probing another low~~
$2.5 TRILLION DOLLARS HAS EVAPORATED FROM THEIR STOCKS, BONDS & MUTUAL FUNDS INVESTMENT
PORTFOLIOS!
YES, IN 2006 AMERICA VOTED FOR CHANGE…AND WE SURE GOT IT! ….
REMEMBER THE PRESIDENT HAS NO CONTROL OVER ANY OF THESE ISSUES, ONLY CONGRESS.
AND WHAT HAS CONGRESS DONE IN THE LAST TWO YEARS, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.
NOW THE DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE FOR PRESIDENT CLAIMS HE IS GOING TO REALLY GIVE US CHANGE ALONG WITH A DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS!!!!
JUST HOW MUCH MORE ‘CHANGE’ DO YOU THINK YOU CAN STAND?
I deeply question the motives of Obama pertaining to his “love of country”. We have the best country in the world with people eagerly clamoring to come here and become citizens. Our democracy and free market capitalism is the envy of the world. Unless, of course, a person has socialistic preferences. In looking at the deep connection between Obama and terrorist Bill Ayers (especially via the fact that Obama served on Ayers board at the CAC and distributed nearly $100 million through that organization – to groups such as ACORN – for the stated purpose of radicalizing children…to reteach American history with racist and imperialist overtones), and his understudy exposure to Alinski’s marxist views, along with a 20 year association with the outspkoen and anti-American Rev. Wright…I am convinced that Obama is a puppet, a soldier of socialism, hellbent on changing not simply the way Washington works, but instead, the form of American governance. His short career in politics contains gaps and unanswered questions – information which America is entitled to know about. In the end, I am confident that John McCain, a man of integrity with a proven track record of experience, will win and serve the U.S. admirably as our next President.
The candidates have a major difference in their leadership styles: McCain tends to say, “Follow me because the other guy can’t get it done” while Obama says, “Follow me because I can get it done.” Ideally, the candidates should say, “Follow me because i will help you get it done” … in any case, of the two of them Obama demonstrates a better leadership mentality
Jon McCain is also a good politician and he got some good political ideology. i admire John McCain more than Obama.
John McCain is my idol. He is a politician with a very strong personality.
