POLL OFFICIALS ABANDONING POSTS IN MARAWI

THE GENUINE Opposition [yesterday] expressed alarm over confirmed reports that election inspectors in Marawi City are abandoning their posts without completing the counting of the results for senatorial candidates.

Instead of first tabulating the senatorial results, the election officials stopped the national count and instead focused on local offices, which is in violation of election law. Reports that the national ERs were being replaced alarmed maranaws, particularly those running for party-list positions.

“We call on the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to take positive steps as soon as possible against these acts of election officers which was reported to us yesterday afternoon by our watchers and supporters, friends, particularly incumbent Rep. Achmad Tumawis.” GO spokesman Atty. Adel Tamano said today.
