Pimp Daddy Villar: Not Personal, Just Politics
I’ve been getting some heat with regards to my branding of Manuel Villar as Pimp Daddy Villar. But what is all the anger about? The point has been made, it’s not personal, but it is within the boundaries of trying to make a point. The point being that Manny Villar has prostituted key positions in The Senate in order to keep his Senate Presidency status.
That’s not to say that no one else in the Senate had the same motives. Because as well all know, most likely, Roxas, and maybe even Ping Lacson would have liked to partner up with the Administration Candidates in order to bolster their run in 2010.
And therein lies the real reason for the anger that we all must be feeling. That none of the Senators, thus far, have acted in a way that is in line with the mandate that The Filipino people have given them this midterm elections.
It’s not personal, my respect for Manny Villar as a public servant has always been there, and as a businessman, even more so. But that doesn’t mean, that we close our eyes to the issue at hand, and the decisions that they make.
After all, if they say they remain opposition Senators, the only way we can judge them by what they say, is to judge them by the actions they make before, during, and after they make these statements.
And thus far, their actions have not been too impressive for me to retract any of my statements that I have made in the past week or so.
To say, that Mar Roxas, or even Ping Lacson threw the first punch, is not even the point. The fact that Villar decided to pursue the same avenue, should be more than enough to indict all of them on the count that they have not been faithful, not one of them, to the mandate of The Filipino people.
It’s a case where all have thrown punches, and all are guilty. Whether they act better in the coming months will be totally up to them.
(Update: Senator Jinggoy Estrada will get the Senate President protempore position. The Blue Ribbon Committee seems to be going to Alan Peter Cayetano, and the Ways and Means will go Senator Escudero. These are the three opposition members who sided with Villar on this issue. Now that we know that these specific chairman positions are going to these Senators, it looks like the Senate is all set to go, and still be in line with the Mandate of that the Filipino people gave them. But let’s keep a close watch and scrutinize every decision)

I’m still with you, nick.
@Neonate, thank you, I appreciate the confidence.
It’s not so much that it is being leveled solely for the purpose of degrading Villar. The main point is that we should never confine ourselves to any politician, and that our loyalty should be to our nation above all. Any politician that puts their own political ambition above that of the good our nation, should never gain our support, no matter how much we like him or her.
It’s hopeful however, that Villar has appointed the Blue ribbon committee and the Ways and Means committee to opposition senators who were given the mandate this midterm election.
