Philippine Election Update: A New Focus Date
As was to be predicted, Mindanao is once again the source for discrepancies in the election. It is once again last in the counting, which makes it even easier to cheat. But, this was to be predicted, yet we were still shocked and dismayed, when we saw it fall in disgrace. It was as if it happened in slow motion, we knew that it would happen.
A new critical date that we should focus on is tomorrow, Wednesday, May 30. This is the day when the members of the Board of Canvassers of the cities of General Santos and Koronadal, the Provincial Board of Canvassers of South Cotabato, the Municipal Boards of Canvassers of Luuk, Sulu and 22 towns in Maguindanao will show up during the canvassing.
These canvassers will have to explain the discrepancies in the entries in the COCs and Statements of Votes, which contain the summary of votes by precincts, municipalities and provinces.
Of course, Benjamin Abalos will probably ask the usual questions, and all we will get is that they were all ‘clerical errors’ and that they have been ‘corrected’. In this scenario, they will move to continue with the canvassing, without investigating the Election Returns which hold the truth in all their lies. If this happens, then we will see once again, that the COMELEC is not out to achieve an honest election.
Again, focus on Wednesday, May 30. And focus on whether or not, the Comelec will move to investigate the Election Returns.
Note: the Comelec has deferred the tabulation of the certificates of canvass (CoCs) from 27 towns of Maguindanao, pending verification of the authenticity of their election returns (ERs).
