Philippine Election 2007 (links) 05-16-07

So far, it has been another long election. Reports have come in that the turnout hasn’t been as good, and the Overseas Absentee Voters have shown a lack in interest as well. There have been some shockers in terms of the exit polls, especially the Cinderella story of Trillanes. And dirty politics has also had a hand in votes being taken away from Allan Cayetano.

There have also been reports of the dismay of some international observers as to the conduct of the entire election. Reports of violence seem to be down, but some attribute this to a calm before a possible storm. There have been reports of vote buying, padding, intimidation as well.
