PEOPLE POWER IN PAMPANGA: An Interview with Fr. Ed Panlilio

In a May 14, 2007 national election in the Philippines marred by over 130 killings, widespread voter intimidation, and blatant attempts at vote fraud, much national media attention was focussed on the province of Pampanga, where a politically unknown village priest named Fr. Eduardo Panlilio had entered the race for governor as a reform candidate in competition with two of the most powerful political family dynasties in the country.
