Pacquiao’s Boxing (Election) Match
The lawyer for Manny Pacquiao has filed the Certificate of Candidacy for the boxer since Manny is in training for his upcoming fight this April. If Pacquiao is banking on his popularity, then his upcoming April boxing match with Solis is not only a fight for his boxing career, but maybe even a fight for his political career as well.
But must I remind you, the fickleness of the mind of the Filipino people when it comes to sports heroes, especially when it comes to their very own boxing heroes. I remember just a few years ago, with Espinosa, and how fast his equity of popularity was lost.
If Manny Pacquiao wants to have a chance in winning during the May election, he must win the the April boxing match against Solis. No ifs, ands, or buts…
Manny’s campaign will be fought in the boxing ring, and God help him if he loses. I sincerely hope that Manny wins the boxing match, and I predict that he will win easily, but as in any election, nothing is for certain, unless it’s rigged of course.
Even if Manny wins the boxing match versus Solis, he still has an uphill battle for the election. It just goes to show how much popularity is still a key aspect in local politics, that even without the presence of Pacquiao, the campaign still moves along.
