Mitt Romney Will Withdraw From Republican Race

According to news reports Mitt Romney will be “suspending” his campaign. I’ll have more later, but it seems Romney will be addressing his constituents in the guise of preserving his party and for the sake of the nation. Romney hasn’t made the speech yet, but it looks as though the information is credible since it comes from two news sources including The AP itself.

As of the moment McCain will effectively be the Republican Nominee for The President of The United States. This is bad news for the Democrats since their race is still muddled.

Update (Romney Suspends Campaign To Win War Against Terrorism)

I guess, Romney saw the numbers, and being a businessman himself, decided that it was just not a good investment to move forward. I was, however, disappointed in his logic. The main point was indeed, in order for The United States to win the war against terror, he has to step down.

Here’s the logic, if he moves forward, The Republican party cannot set its sight against The Democrats. The Democrats are against the war in Iraq, and winning the war in Iraq, according to Romney, is central to winning the war against terrorism.

So, in order for McCain to have a better chance, and since he is the front-runner, Romney had to step aside to make sure that Obama or Clinton will not have an upper hand and take the Presidency.

Here’s our take: Romney took a hit by the name of Huckabee. There was no room for his moderate views since McCain already had those type of Republican voters in hand. Losing in Iowa hurt Romney and in a sense, the momentum that Huckabee gained was at the expense of Mitt Romney. Romney lost, he’s stepping aside because the numbers show an insurmountable lead, this is not about Iraq, and yet, because Romney may be eying the Presidency in the future, it’s good to save face now.
