Manny Villar The New Pimp Of The Senate
If we have to choose today, who our next president will be, I contend that neither Manny Villar, Mar Roxas, or even Senator Ping Lacson will get my vote. If this early, they have found a way to blunder their majority in The Senate, how can we entrust any of them to lead our country starting 2010? What a poor show of leadership I have seen in the past week or so, with regards to the jockeying in The Philippine Senate.
Because of the greed and the need for power, the mandate of The Filipino People may fall on deaf ears. Who started it? My finger is tending to point towards Manny Villar. Because of his politicking, he has prostituted key Senate Chairmanships to Administration officials, thus shooting down, this early, the possibility of any legitimate investigations into this Arroyo Administration.
Ellen, in her blog, says it correctly, we will have a Mongrel Majority in The Philippine Senate.
If this early, they are already deciding the fate of the mandate given to them by The Filipino People, then maybe we should also decide, this early on, that our vote will not be for any of these Senators. This is the price that they will pay, if for some reason, the opposition will not do the job that the electorate voted them in for.
According to Ellen,
Reliable reports from the competing camps in the Senate concede that Villar has the numbers. He is reported to have gotten the commitment of the seven administration senators namely Juan Ponce-Enrile, Miriam Santiago, Joker Arroyo, Edgardo Angara, Richard Gordon, Bong Revilla and Lito Lapid.
Pangilinana will get Majority Floor Leader
Jinggoy will become Senate pro-tempore
Juan Ponce Enrile get the Finance Committee
Escudero or maybe even Joker Arroyo may get the Blue Ribbon Committee
In short, Villar has promised everything, even the mandate of The Filipino People, in order to solidify his bid for The Senate Presidency. The Pimp of The Senate indeed.
Now that’s what I call Politics. But, let’s just see how voters will congratulate Villar come 2010.
With regards to Lacson, he may still be a good candidate for President, let’s just see if he can muster up enough fight in The Senate to have some impact in the next three years.
