Gloria Arroyo has Disappointed..
How the mighty has fallen. Gloria is neither an angel nor a fallen angel for that matter, but she definitely has disappointed. This disappointment stems from different aspects of her [tag]presidency[/tag]. When I say all aspects, I mean political, social, and in some parts, even economical. Is it because that maybe the gap between the “haves” and “have-nots” have remained stagnant or may have even increased.
But as human beings, it is a fact, that the more personal the wrong is to us.. the greater effect it has on our own lives…
Let me make this point clear… The most distructive catastrophe in United States history is the attack on the twin towers on September 11… or that of hurricane katrina. But with the [tag]filipino people[/tag], we really don’t feel that much anguish, unless it’s in our own backyard.. much more so if it is actually part of our own lives.. like a simple splinter on the finger will make us go crazy for days..
And that is what I am pointing out here… Somehow, someway.. the ouster of the former president, Joseph Ejercito [tag]Estrada[/tag], really made me feel alive, as if a new chapter in our colorful history was to begin. A bright new day. I was right on the former, but on the latter part, the part of being a bright new day is very much in question at this point.
Gloria was my [tag]Cory Aquino[/tag]. I rallied in Cebu, I chanted [tag]oust Erap[/tag], I believed. And for me, it really became personal. It as in my own backyard now. This is the reason why I am so distraught, and very disappointed on the course that [tag]GMA[/tag] has taken. Every action she takes seems so calculated and cold.
We want a new government.. again.. a new leader. again…. this is a cycle that seems to never stop..
So, believe me.. when i tell you.. if we ever get another Ninoy.. or another Rizal.. long live that leader.. let his death not be.. and let that leader live… because, it is in life that maybe we can have a better country.
