Escudero Blames Partymates, I Say Blame Pimp Daddy Villar
Chiz Escudero finally speaks up after a week or so of the controversy of a divided opposition, which is going to result in a senate majority with Administration Senators in the fold.
Escudero’s points are,
(1) Villar was the incumbent
(2) He gave Villar his commitment
(3) No one had indicated that they were interested in the position.
And concludes that the opposition could have made it work if only they had sided with Villar.
But then again, there are points that also say,
(1) The incumbent president, doesn’t necessarily get the vote
(2) A senator’s commitment need only be to the people who voted for him
(3) An indication of interest was far from the focus during the election, considering that winning the election was the primary focus
And lastly, couldn’t the opposition Senators who sided with Pimentel also say that if only all of the opposition senators sided with Pimentel, then they could have made it work?
In the end, there is a difference in the two scenarios, and that is that in one scenario, Villar, in order to obtain the Presidency in the Senate, went outside of the opposition. A clear kick in the ass to the electorate’s mandate during the elections. Pimentel could easily have made the concessions and pimped away all the important positions in The Senate to administration Senators, but he didn’t. That decision, my dear friends, was made by none other than our favorite Pimp Daddy Villar.
(Update: I am aware that Mar also intended to solicit the support of Administration Senators, and this again proves my point of climbing the political ladder. Can one expect their own integrity to remain unscathed in this climb to the top? When all the current presidentiables are willing to trade the mandate of the people for their own political career, I guess the answer to the previous question is NO.)

If you are genuinely interested in a change for the better for the Philippines, you should not dwell on personalities but rather be more issue-oriented. Name calling will not contribute to the Philippines’ advancement.
The Senate is not necessarily oppositionist. As Senate President Villar said when he took the position, the Senate must be independent of the executive branch but should look at every issue on its merits. He looks at what is good for the people and not just be oppositionist for its own sake.
As you probably know, some GO senators were already jockeying for positions in pursuit of their own presidential ambitions. I am sure the people did not vote for them to have this as their primary concern even before the start of the next session.
If you want support for your postings, you have to act maturely and not resort to name-calling.
@Dano, very well put.
I don’t apologize for my labeling of Villar as Pimp Daddy Villar, of course it may be extreme, but my point has been made.
The prostituting of key Chairmanships has been my focus with regards to this issue.
To this degree, none of the Senators have performed with the mandate of The Filipino in mind.
We can’t give anyone a free ride, just because we tend to favor them. Before this controversy, Manuel Villar has been one of my favorite public servants, but each issue, as you say, has to be looked at in its own merit.
And in this issue, no one passed.
Now, let’s hope that this is just a bump in the road, and see if their performance is in line with the mandate that the Filipino people gave them during the midterm elections.
And in this end, I think Pimp Daddy Villar, gives a quick, effective, albeit crude, description, as to what has happened thus far.
If you read the blog regularly, you will notice, that this is not a common avenue for myself, but I found it necessary in this instance.
