My Cousin Was A Passenger
I just found out a few hours ago that my cousin Bebot was on The MV Princess of The Stars. Bebot used to help drive me around on some occasions when I was still in school. He’s a good guy that everyone is fond of. He has a daughter that just graduated nursing. He’s a good father, having had to sacrifice going overseas, as a seaman, in order to make a living. And now, because of the assholes at Sulpicio, The Coast Guard, and hell even PAGASA, the perfect storm has taken my cousin. A father, a husband, a cousin, a damn good guy.
I’m even more pissed off than I was just a day ago. When I wrote that I was in anguish and seething with anger, those emotions pale in comparison, now that the tragedy just got a bit more personal. I haven’t called up Bebot’s family yet, just my aunt, I’m not sure what to say, or what to do, I’m just shocked. It’s early in the morning in The Philippines, so I’m not so sure if I should even call this early.
But, according to my aunt, they’re not that optimistic, they haven’t heard word from any agency, and any that have survived, it sure wasn’t Bebot. Now, as if it’s any consolation, Bebot’s family just wants his body recovered, at least for a proper burial.
I’ll write later guys, I just need to sort things out a bit, see what I can contribute to the disaster relief, and to Bebot’s family.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this most difficult time.
My condolences, Nick. I’m praying for your cuz.
This is as close to home as it can get. Praying for your cousin, Mick.
