A Guilty Verdict For Erap Is Bad For All Corrupt Officials
Former President Joseph Ejercito Estrada (Erap) will soon hear either one of two verdicts, Guilty or Not Guilty. The most probable is Guilty, but as Erap informed media, he is ready for the verdict either way. The six year long trial will finally come to an end, which begs the rhetorical question, was this a speedy trial or what?
Let me make this clear to the readers however, I am for accountability no matter who the personality is. Whether it is Erap or if it is Gloria, if both have participated in illegal activities, especially against our nation, then both should be held accountable. But as luck would have it for Erap, it looks like he’s going up first.
Maybe, and this is just a thought, Erap should have had a backup plan just like Gloria is preparing for herself. That’s right, an all encompassing retroactive amnesty for everyone, including the President.
Again, as luck would have it, Erap has not made such a plan.
And as of this writing the police and military are all set and ready to “keep the peace”, or in the protesters’ view, ready to “intimidate”.
As I said, Gloria is facing a lose-lose situation. But, here’s another look at that lose-lose scenario.
Gloria loses if it’s a not guilty verdict because she then has to face legitimacy issues regarding her assumption into power back in 2001, not that she hasn’t faced the same legitimacy issue because of 2004.
And then Gloria loses again if a guilty verdict is returned because this will finally mean that we can indeed convict a former President. And come 2010, if her plan for a change to parliamentary form doesn’t work, she could become the second former president to be brought to trial and possibly be convicted. Again, impeachment is out of the question simply on the basis of the Administration’s control of the lower house, but then again, because it is Philippine Politics, allegiance can always shift at the last minute.
No matter which administration is in power, it can finally be said, in the probability of a guilty verdict, that The Philippines is serious about graft and corruption, even as high up as The Presidency itself. Now isn’t that a scary thought for many public officials?

Well,as i have known and as i understand the situation of former president Joseph Ejercito Estrada is not good because he is a good person and why he empeached during those time ,just maybe because his critics are very hungry to take his power as a prsident of the republic of the Philippines.As we know our country is not poor country because there’s so much money from the different agencies for this government like Philippine Lotto and Sweepstakes and BIR or Burreau OF Internal Revenue.There’s so much more money yearly alone at BIR.This is the big reasons why Gloria Arroyo grab the position of former president Joseph Ejercito Estrada.She want to get more money and with the help of her husband that’s why they’re a rumor that those a loothed of money deposited to the other bank of Germany and more .We know,that Gloria Arroyo was the vice president of President Joseph Ejercito Estrada and she didn’t help his president to solved the problems in country Philippines instead of helping his president Joseph Ejercito Estrada she made a secret meeting with foreign investors and some other rich persons and high oficials from the Philippine government and therefore going to Edsa and shouting to step down the President Estrada.So, without any comments President Estrada step down away from the Malacanang Palace because he afraid if there’s more blood shaded that time co’z the military ready to attack and what will happened to the crowd all over the Edsa that’s why the president Erap step down he has a good heart to his country men ,i don’t believed the perjury and the pluder cases.And those people at Edsa during those time was the students came from the differrents schools unversities they paid each to participate the rally to step
down the former president Estrada.The vice president are very happy to set down the position of his president.In one word Gloria is not good person his very bad she can not wait the exact time ,that’s why we know already what she done for the country this time no good ended no good ,there is also hello Garci ,proclaiming at the dawn last 2004 even Fernando Poe Jr.is the winner!!!
