Sarah McLachlan – World On Fire
A friend of mine once asked, why do I do what I do. “You are such a busy person, but why do you pursue this need?”
I told him bluntly, that it’s not a choice, it is my duty. With the poor who remain hungry, and the hungry who die, and the dead who remain voiceless — who will stand up? It is only the citizens of humanity that can make this sacrifice to speak out. And yet the real sacrifice are those who remain in war-torn areas around the world, those who die because of hunger, and the many who remain without adequate living standards. The deaths can be prevented, it is the great sadness and reality of our times that we allow such atrocities.
When I became old enough to understand the meaning of poverty, death, and even inequality, I think this has gone far in why I choose to pursue writing and blogging. The following video, by Sarah McLachlan titled World On Fire should be enough for any person to want to make a stand. Who decides whether we make a difference? Shouldn’t doing the right thing be enough motivation to act?
The video proves one thing, we can make a difference if we choose to. Oh how I wish all music videos will be done in this manner. I can add on to this video. Around P20 to P50 will be enough for the dinner of a family of four. How many dinners for the poor will your Guess Jeans buy?
You can make a difference, are you willing to make the sacrifice? You can see how where the donations went to again by going here.
Here are the lyrics to World on Fire:
Hearts are worn in these dark ages
You’re not alone in this story’s pages
Night has fallen amongst the living and the dying
And I try to hold it in, yeah I try to hold it in
[Chorus]
The world’s on fire and
It’s more than I can handle
I’ll tap into the water
(I try to pull my ship)
I try to bring more
More than I can handle
(Bring it to the table)
Bring what I am able
I watch the heavens and I find a calling
Something I can do to change this moment
Stay close to me while the sky is falling
Don’t wanna be left alone, don’t wanna be alone
[Chorus]
Hearts break, hearts mend
Love still hurts
Visions clash, planes crash
Still there’s talk of
Saving souls, still the cold
Is closing in on us
We part the veil on our killer sun
Stray from the straight line on this short run
The more we take, the less we become
A fortune of one that means less for some

If it’s any consolation, never owned nor any in my family bought a guess jeans – very careful about our purchases.
We also have a policy in the family: we don’t wear clothes that display expensive brands; we feel that these companies should pay us if they want us to be their walking sandwich men.
Just a different mindset I guess.
@MBW, it’s good to know… I used to crave high end items before. I’ve owned Guess Jeans, Polo Shirts, Nike caps, and all the non essentials. It’s a time in my life, when i just didn’t empathize. But your family, that is what is right with the world.. Continue, because these non-purchases really do make a difference…
