Charice Pempengco On Oprah Winfrey Show

Oh my freaakin’ Lord!! Charice Pempengco, child wonder, singing for Oprah Winfrey herself. Bringing her A-game, and that powerful voice. I saw it, and I couldn’t believe the voice. I must admit, that was the first time I heard her sing. Everyone’s been raving about her, the whole international community has been talking about her. The two top day talk shows, Ellen Degeneres and Oprah have had her as a guest, these are two stamps of approval.

Now, there’s really no excuse for this girl to make it big. The only question is now, is her agent smart and savvy enough to market this talent? Before she makes that leap though, in all honesty, she needs some speech lessons, in order to get rid of her accent, especially if she wants to make it on the international arena. Well, enough about my views on Charice Pempengco, watch the full video of her, including the introduction of her, on the Oprah Winfrey show.

  1. How do you exactly market a 16 year-old who looks like 12?

She’s Asian. She’s no Miley Cyrus.

By the time she hits 18, she’ll be way less marketable. She can’t compete with the Rihannas of the music scene. Her type of singing went out in the mid90s.

  2. @benj, that’s the problem of her manager in my opinion. There are less talented singers out there (Madonna), and less appealing, than this girl.

That said, I really don’t think she can claim fame if she keeps singing these songs.

I just realized, while browsing at her previous videos, the reason that she may sing this Whitney song so good, as that she has probably sung this song a million times over, and it suits her…

A challenge would be songs more up tempo, hip-hop, more R&B..

Filipinos love to sing songs like Whitney, and this is the downfall in a market where there is only one Whitney Houston.

Charice must first try to differentiate herself.. A tough challenge indeed.

  3. Asian singers are one of the best!

  4. So far, Oprah is doing a great job “marketing” her…

  5. Charice is a natural. With singing so effortless to her where she’s mastered pitch, timing, vibrato, enunciation, it will only be a matter of time before her accent disappears on its own. Listen to her rendition of “Irreplaceable”… she’s got every syllable down. Granted that she probably practiced this a million times, but this proves that if she moves to the U.S. and live there fulltime at 16, her pinoy accent will disappear and she’ll also master the American accent.

Charice is just a bigginner. She has a long way to go to make a very significant improvements on her personality. It takes a very intellegent Manager to market her professional career and a very professional trainer in music industry. This child could sing any song if managed/trained well. She will be the fture Gem of the Philipine Good Luck to Charice and always put your feet on the ground, share your luck to our unprivilage kababayans.
