Oh my freaakin’ Lord!! Charice Pempengco, child wonder, singing for Oprah Winfrey herself. Bringing her A-game, and that powerful voice. I saw it, and I couldn’t believe the voice. I must admit, that was the first time I heard her sing. Everyone’s been raving about her, the whole international community has been talking about her. The two top day talk shows, Ellen Degeneres and Oprah have had her as a guest, these are two stamps of approval.
Now, there’s really no excuse for this girl to make it big. The only question is now, is her agent smart and savvy enough to market this talent? Before she makes that leap though, in all honesty, she needs some speech lessons, in order to get rid of her accent, especially if she wants to make it on the international arena. How do you exactly market a 16 year-old who looks like 12?
She’s Asian. She’s no Miley Cyrus.
By the time she hits 18, she’ll be way less marketable. She can’t compete with the Rihannas of the music scene. Her type of singing went out in the mid90s.
@benj, that’s the problem of her manager in my opinion. There are less talented singers out there (Madonna), and less appealing, than this girl.
That said, I really don’t think she can claim fame if she keeps singing these songs.
I just realized, while browsing at her previous videos, the reason that she may sing this Whitney song so good, as that she has probably sung this song a million times over, and it suits her…
A challenge would be songs more up tempo, hip-hop, more R&B..
Filipinos love to sing songs like Whitney, and this is the downfall in a market where there is only one Whitney Houston.
Charice must first try to differentiate herself.. A tough challenge indeed.
