The Cowards of Cebu City
In what can only be called as a city filled with “Yes Men”, it seems that the Ass Kissing has extended to the Barangay Captains as well as Congressmen Raul del Mar and Antonio Cuenco. They have all expressed their support for the decision of Mayor Tomas Osmeña to junk the construction of a 20 classroom school building as well as other projects.
It seems none of these Barangay captains have the guts to call the decision of Mayor Tomas Osmeña for what it really is, and that it is a political tantrum gone wild.
Even Vice Mayor Rama and the City Council have left the decision to Mayor Tomas.
A bunch of cowards, and a city filled with “Yes Men”. Afraid of what would happen to them and their barangays if they were to speak out against the Mayor. This is one of the saddest moments I have experienced, being a Cebuano myself, I have to say I am utterly disgusted and disappointed by the lack of courage and integrity these Barangay Captains and other City Officials have shown. Who will stand up to the bully of City Hall? Apparently, not one of these City Officials.
Osmeña may have had to decide to proceed with the construction any way, since Barangay Captain Santos started a fund-raising campaign, as well as received a P5 million donation from Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia.
I’ve been covering this story very closely. But hearing the despicable decisions of these Cebu City Officials, and hearing their ass kissing, was almost too much to bear. I won’t soon forget this, and I hope the citizens won’t forget it come election season. I will definitely bring this up again.
