Suspended Lapu Lapu Mayor Arturro ‘Boy’ Radazza Survives
Lapu Lapu City Mayor, Arturo Radazza has won reelection. Considering that he was suspended after reports surfaced of his involvement in the overpriced ASEAN lamppost controversy, this is a surprise. He won over the acting Mayor Norma Patalinjug, who was his replacement after his preventative suspension upon the pending investigation.
The vote margin was around 15,000 votes, which is wide enough to conclude that most residents were not deterred in his alleged involvement in the lamppost controversy.
Of course, there are reports of cheating, and I have to admit, there were probably some cheating that took place, but the margin was big enough that it probably didn’t affect the results. Nonetheless, I hope they investigate the allegations.
And with regards to the voters, I have heard that not very many people really liked Patalinjug either, so maybe this was a case of vote for the lesser evil… Who loses in this case? Maybe the residents of Lapu Lapu.
According to Sun Star Cebu,
His reelection will absolve Radaza of whatever administrative liabilities he may have over the P365-million purchase of allegedly overpriced lamps, which the Office of the Ombudsman-Visayas is investigating.
I don’t really know if this is true, but if it is, then damn, now that’s what I call a reason to cheat…
