From Ass To Youtube
This hasn’t been an easy past two weeks for the person at the center of Cebu’s most recent video scandal. In which a video of a medical operation, an extraction of a foreign object (body spray can) from the rectum of a patient, was circulated all over the internet. A video which shows almost the entire staff of the operating room laughing their hearts out.
It may have been funny at the moment, but these people who are responsible for such an unethical display of medical practices are probably no longer laughing.
Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center, the hospital in which the operation took place is certainly getting a big brunt of that negative publicity.
And this has also been bad, really bad, for the reputation of our medical professionals everywhere. We are supposed to be known for our excellence in the medical field, especially that of nursing. Numerous commentary has been made with regards to Desperate Housewives and this specific scandal, and how the Character of Theri Hatcher may have been right when making a passing joke about Filipino Nurses when she said,
Before we go any further, can I check those diplomas? ‘Coz, I just want to make sure they’re not from some med school in the Philippines..
Let me tell everyone, that Teri Hatcher’s character was not right. These individuals shown on the tape are by far the lowest among the lowest of medical practitioners. It may have been a lapse in judgment, but damn it, they have to pay. When we are trying our hardest to uplift the Filipino, one damn video threatens to ruin it for all of us.
This affects our tourism, specifically those who come to The Philippines for medical reasons. Because of our affordable operations and high standards. But this specific incident will no doubt tarnish that image.
We are a smart group of people, we are an educated nation, but this video makes us all look like idiots and sarcastic little bastards.
We’re not, but these specific individuals may damn near be. Strong language, I don’t apologize for it at all.
These people deserve to be fired, and the students suspended. May they learn their lessons, and may they never work in the medical field again.
Not only did this make the hospital look bad, but it threatens the welfare of that hospital, who I know is an important hospital in Cebu. It is affordable, and because of this, many individuals with low income go to this hospital.
My aunt goes to this hospital, and I can attest to the great care that people receive at this hospital, except maybe for these specific individuals who find it alright to laugh at the expense of others.
Teri Hatcher was wrong, but probably right with regards to these specific medical practitioners.
