Another Call To Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña
I am continuing my call to Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña to stop playing politics and start serving the people of Cebu City. In my previous post, Tomas Osmeña On A Rampage in Cebu, I informed the readers of how Mayor Tomas Osmeña has let his anger dictate his actions of stopping the construction of a 20 classroom building as well as other important projects of Barangay Lahug.
This anger stems from the fact that he is accusing his opponent in the elections, Barangay Captain of Lahug, Mary Ann De los Santos, of saying to the public that he did not provide any projects to Lahug in the past.
And now, the people of Lahug are pleading to Mayor Tomas. In a recent article by Sun Star Cebu, they report that many Lahug residents are pleading with the Mayor to reconsider his decision to cut projects in their Barangay.
“We need the schoolbuilding badly. The mayor should pity us. We have nothing to do with their politics,†said a grade five teacher.
A student, who was cleaning the school’s “science park,†appealed for the mayor to listen to what his heart is telling him.
“The mayor should pity us. We haven’t done him wrong,†said Grace (real name withheld).
All this pleading should not even be happening. How disgraceful of a Mayor to have to make his own citizens beg for what is rightly theirs. How disgraceful it is to see a mayor act in such a childish way. He is not only a disgrace to himself, but he is a disgrace to the office that he holds.
How dare he use the citizens as pawns in his political showdown against a barangay captain. Is this why we vote into office such a mayor? Those funds and projects that you are holding, Mr. Mayor, this is not your monopoly money that you can just playfully set aside when you wish.
Sickening, that is the word that describes the situation that you have made.
Its really sickening. This only shows how twisted the egos of our local executives are. This power-tripping of Osmeña should be brought to the ombudsman’s or DILG’s attention. Gloria should step in, she owes it to the Cebuanos who supported(?) her and her cohorts.

I’m not so sure they supported her cohorts, on the contrary, maybe the Cebuanos supported their money…
I certainly hope the opposition party files a complaint of some sort. But, unfortunately, it all seems pretty legal, as it’s supposed to be “his call” regarding the allotment of these funds..
I’ll give him a few more days… Although, this shouldn’t even be happening in the first place..

i met with mayor osmena last week. i am a visitor from bangkok who is in serious financial trouble since fighting broke out and prime minister samak sundaravej WAS FORCED TO RESIGN. in bangkok near my bank which has not sent me a PESO for over 2 weeks. i asked for the mayors assistance. he is just a bullshit artist. his promise to call the australian embassy(i am an aussi age pensioner) to get help and email me never occurred and i still have had no funds and was yesterday thrown out of my pension because i could not pay mY rent. YOUR MAYOR IS USELESS JUST ANOTHER POLITICAL HACK. I APPEAL TO SOMEBODY RESPONSIBLE IN CEBU CITY TO ASSIST ME FINANCIALLY AND I CAN ACCESS MY BANK ACCOUNT IN THAILAND TO REPAY ANY LOANS.
