AFP, PNP, PALPARAN: Ready For Lanao Special Elections

But what COMELEC fails to remind everyone, is that this could have all been prevented if security was provided in the first place. The security that NAMFREL was pleading to the COMELEC about, and asked for in advance of the May 14th election. COMELEC did not act, election officers abandoned their posts, and one can only be skeptical if this was planned ahead of time, in order for this current situation to take place.

  1. A butcher sent there but to do what? What is Palparan’s specific role? He’s no longer a military man – he can’t be a security guard either, he’s not even big enough to do any close in physical combat. So why is he there?

His presence is highly suspect. He’s not for the Opposition so clearly, he’s there to oversee for TU.
But why him? To put the living daylights out of anyone who might object and give full meaning to his sobriquet, i.e., butcher?

  2. If they truly needed retired generals to be useful in Lanao del Sur, Palparan ain’t the guy. He’s better at butchering countryside folks but not the likes warlords in Lanao del Sur.

If there’s one retired general who knows Lanao del Sur like the palm of his hand, it is General J Nazareno, former CSAFP who spend most of his soldiering life in Lanao del Sur and in other hot spots of Mindanao. That was why JdV couldn’t do anything in Mindandano when he ran against Erap; this despite the Navy ferrying ballot boxes to Mindanao for JdV’s camp.

Another general who can stare down habitual crooks in Lanao del Sur is former Lt General Voltaire Gazmin. A real warrior and trained by the British SAS.

    Palparan? Baaah!

  3. Well, according to the military, they don’t even know why he’s there either. (truth or lie?)

According to Palparan, he’s there to watch the votes for his Party List (truth or lie?)

    And what about Lomibao?

The fact is that the whole situation is obvious to even a kindergarten student, but yet, they think the collective of Filipino people are of lower intelligence…

If you read my previous post, Calling All Filipinos: Lanao Needs You, you’ll get a clear picture as to how the scenario has shaped up. Including the use of handpicked PNP policemen as BEIs (Board of Election Inspectors)

Nick and Brux, again everyone is being skeptical at this action. You guys want security, but when you finally get security, you’re not happy. What exactly is it that you want? Palparan is not part of this group, he is there to guard his vote. I think Palparan is getting a bad rap, I think he’s good for the country, and I hope his party list wins. He’s a hardworking guy willing enough to take apart the insurgency in the Philippines. But this election in Lanao is being guarded and yet everyone is complaining. HYPOCRITES!!!!!

  5. Hindiakopinoy,

Yeah, yeah, go recycle your thrash somewhere else…
Do you personally know Palparan to vouch for him in the manner you do?

    Hypocrite to you too!

  6. @Hindiakopinoy,

Please refer to The Alston Report to get a better understanding of your hero.

2004 and the HELLO GARCI scandal is all you need to refer to, so that you will realize that the AFP was involved in that as well…

Security is what The Filipino People want, not intimidation and cheating. With the wrong people in charge in Lanao Del Sur, you can bet the farm on it that Sumalipao, Bedol, COMELEC, AFP Leadership, and PNP leadership is up to no good.

Brux, I can ask the same thing about you. Do you know Palparan to slam him as you do? And nick you tell me about The Alston report, Alston a guy who isn’t even Filipino. And yet, Palparan has never been found guilty of any crime. I thought you guys were all up for democracy, but isn’t it “innocent until proven guilty” in a true democracy? This is not trash, because there are millions of Filipino who think that Palparan is one of the true heroes who is actually standing up to these militants. It is these militants who are probably causing trouble in Lanao Del Sur as we speak.

  8. Hindiakopinoy, you don’t know what you’re talking about.

Either you don’t realize the extremes that Arroyo will go through in order to win, or you are just too naive to understand and still believe in GMA and all those who carry out her order.

My family is in Lanao del Sur, and believe me when I say this, NAMFREL was being shut out in order for cheating to take place, and now that all forces are being sent to Lanao del Sur only makes me fear the safety of my family even more.

So shut up, until you get the facts straight!

  9. Hindiakopinoy, Yes, I know the damn plonker Palparan, not well but I know him and he knows me, you pillock!

Meanwhile, Nick, this news item says it all, i.e., there will be changes in the Senatorial slots:

    http://www.philstar.com/index.php?p=49&type=2&sec=24&aid=4758

There are more than 96,000 registered voters in Lanao del Sur but Abalos claimed he could not readily ascertain how it would affect the fate of the candidates tailing in the senatorial race.

According to Abalos, the certificates of canvass from the province would no longer be brought to Manila for the national canvassing but to Marawi City, in the presence of poll watchdogs and representatives of various political parties.

The National Movement for Free Elections (Namfrel), meanwhile, claimed their volunteers were prevented by armed men from entering the polling precincts in Lanao yesterday.

According to Namfrel secretary general Eric Alvia, several of their volunteers were prevented by armed men in fatigue uniforms from witnessing the special elections.

“We are still not sure whether the heavily armed men were government forces or members of private armies, but many of them were in fatigue uniforms,” Alvia said.

Abalos is paving the way, softening the blow already… Damn donkey’s ass!

  10. @A De Brux,

There are already parts of Lanao that will again hold elections today, because of violence that took place, and confusion with regards to BEIs..

This is not looking good, since the longer it goes on, the more likelihood of the possibility of cheating.

Right now, the stages for concern are the investigation into the Maguindanao votes as well as the parts of Lanao that were able to hold elections, amid discrepancies and lack of transparency, due to of course, Sumalipao..

Earlier today, Sumalipao challenged the opposition to file charges, which I am hoping they will do.

Let’s wait as to how this will play out, and lets see if COMELEC will indeed hold investigations all the way up to the ERs…

I heard that the Comelec is indeed going to be investigating the Maguindanao votes as well as other parts of Mindanao. According to their spokesman, the problem with the opposition is that they are complaining about the improbability of the 12-0 sweep, but don’t have concrete evidence. And that the opposition have yet to come out with legitimate witnesses and even evidence.

The Comelec will investigate the Board of Canvassers, so I think there is definitely transparency there. Everyone just cant believe that the opposition did not get high votes, but dont relize Mindanao is the bailiwack of team unity.

Just because its hard to accept, does not mean it did not happen. As you say nick, let us wait. And not jump to conclusions.
