I’ve Lost Thousands of Dollars
What I do as a blogger can only be described as a passionate walk. It is the road that I have chosen, and I am glad that I have taken that road. In all honesty, if I could account for all the lost hours, days, weeks, and probably months, that I have spent blogging, researching, and taking time to socialize here on the net, it has cost me dearly in terms of my productivity, and thus my renumeration in professional work. I estimate in the thousands.
Do I really care? Not really, when passion is my number one drive, money in the end is the last of my concerns. It goes to the heart of why I blog, and that simply is because of the love of my country. Damn corny, damn almost too baduy to even state on a blog post, but it’s the truth.
I try to be true to myself, a phrase that I know is used often, but again, that’s the truth.
I know that making an impact is the simple act of taking that first step, this blog is that first step, Filipino Voices is that first step, wherever this road of blogging takes me, I’m sure that in the end, there will be no regrets. Only a fulfillment of my passion to uplift my own country, my own people, and the home where Rizal died. I may have lost thousands in productivity, but I have earned points where it matters, towards the betterment and the understanding of Philippine Society. I have written with conviction, I have written with love, I have written with passion, and as a Filipino, I’m proud of that.

I’ve commented before that the Online community (including blogging) is part of the emerging Gift Economy, similar to what the Open Source community is to software.
