Blog Appreciation: Filipina Bloggers of Substance
Alright, this list is quite long, so I will start out with a few of my favorites, three this week. These are Filipina women, that I have grown to love as I go blog hopping in this vast blogosphere. They bring their advocacies, their unabashed personalities, and their strong convictions. They are women I admire, not only because of their writing but because they inspire so many others in their writing. They are true to themselves and don’t give a damn about the naysayers.
Noemi of AboutMyRecovery.com, any list such as this must include Noemi. She has brought her advocacies online, her openness, and her candor is nothing short of amazing and inspiring. She not only brings the best out in people, but because of her, we Filipino bloggers have never had such a great ambassador for blogging. She is a wife, a mother, a blogger, a sister, and many other things to so many people. This is Noemi, and I invite everyone to join me in thanking her for the many contributions she makes in her life.
Cathy of Midlife Mysteries, Cathy is an inspiration to me, not only because of the way she writes, but what she writes about. If ever there was a mold of what a lifestyle writer should be, Cathy is it. I chanced upon Cathy’s blog, in all honesty, I cannot remember how. But she was one of the first blogs I truly followed when I started blogging myself. She has inspired me in so many ways, through her generosity, kindness, and the very depths of her soul. Kind of corny, I know, but it’s true. Cathy, in short, is an inspiring woman. I try to read her blog every now and then, when I get the chance. As a political blogger, these days I find myself engrossed in politics, but whenever I do get the chance to read her articles, it is always a treat to sit back and renew myself and be inspired.
Connie Veneracion, actually she might be surprised at this, considering my all out attack on her “colleague” Malu F., and my boycott on the paper she writes for. But, be that as it may, she is nonetheless one of my favorite Filipina bloggers of all time. She is a prolific writer, a thoughtful writer, and a damn good cook. I agree to disagree with her on some issues, and I find her knowledge on many subjects eye opening. I respect her, and I truly am a fan of her work. In short, I like her. An admirer, I truly am.
I’ll leave it at three this week, there’s more to come. Next week, I may just continue with this group because there are so many other Filipina bloggers that I admire.

yan ang galing ng pinay
@acnerdz, they really are “galing”, and so much more. Substance, I thought, is a great summary of what they are. So much to them, and yet they remain grounded.
Cathy, as I have said all this time, is the polar opposite of what a Malu Fernandez is.
Hello, Nick. I’m touched. And humbled. And happy because there are still people out there who can separate personalities from issues. Cheers!
@Connie, no problem, just saying the truth.. I’m with you, I honestly don’t know why people take disagreements to the personal level.. in the end, if we still don’t agree, that just shows our difference, doesn’t mean we can’t have a cup of coffee or do lunch together.. Respect and admiration, doesn’t mean that you need to agree 100%, I hope more people realize this..
