How Many More Chances Does Benjamin Abalos Want?

The reply of Benjamin Abalos when confronted with The CBCP call for a revamp of The COMELEC, was that they should be given another chance. But how many chances does Abalos want? Does he totally want to rape and pillage our electorate of every democratic right of suffrage it has? Does he want all politicians to be elected just like those in Maguindanao?

How many more chances does Abalos want to repeat the feat of the stolen 2004 election and the debacle of The 2007 Midterm Election?

Abalos on Monday appealed to the bishops to stop blaming them for the apparent failure of the electoral system. But who are we to blame, are they not the body in charge of the elections? Are they not the same people who are letting Lintang Bedol go off scott free? Are they not the same poll body that oversaw the 2004 elections? Are they not the same poll body that promoted officials like the ‘Garci Boys’?

The following is Abalos’ reaction to CBCP,

“I hope the CBCP would also look into the people’s moral degradation. Don’t you think the moral values of our people is all our concern, that it is all our duty to address this problem,” Abalos said, reacting to the CBCP’s statement on the need for electoral reforms.

“They should look into why people sell their votes and why politicians buy them. Why would they blame the Comelec for all this? This is very unfair,” he said.

Abalos admitted the performance of the Comelec in the May elections was not perfect and appealed to the public and critics “to give us a chance.” (via Inquirer)

Indeed, I don’t see what chances Abalos is talking about, because the public, whether or not they consented, has given this COMELEC all the chances in the world. But they have squandered and made a mockery of our elections time and time again.

So, when The CBCP says that the public no longer trusts any of the commissioners including Benjamin Abalos himself, this is not a statement that came out hastily, this is a statement born from years of mismanagement, brazen election cheating, and a clear politicized COMELEC headed by Abalos himself.

I believe, the chance that Abalos may be referring to, is a chance, once more, to rig the 2010 elections. Even Lintang Bedol, in an ambush interview last month referred to the 2010 elections, as if he would be part of it again.

Indeed, Abalos may want a chance to go out with a bang, to totally demoralize and rape The Philippine Electorate one more time.

So, don’t give us this crap about another chance, because from the look of things, another chance for this current group of COMELEC officials will degrade our elections even further, until it no longer is an election by the vote of the people, but an election by THE COMELEC.
