Gloria Calls For National Reconciliation

GMA 13th Congress

Although historians would disagree, Jose de Venecia still proceeded with the 100th year anniversary special session. And just in time for the celebration, we had another speech from Gloria herself. Professing reconciliation, boasting of a mandate due to the local elections, and boasting about the EVAT… But no mention about Charter Change? What about the Senate?…

“One hundred years ago, the hope of a nation first took from the roots of freedom, liberty and equality. One hundred years later, it is racing to a horizon full of promise – the shaping of an environment that is conducive to wealth creation with the end goal of being First World in 20 years,” the Chief Executive said.

“The sun never sets from the work of the President, nor of Congress, in the modern world. We all must do our part in honing the competitiveness of the nation. We must make sure we maintain the momentum. We’re totally focused on the economy because only a strong economy will let our people out of poverty and expand our middle class,” she said.

“The campaign has had its contentious moments. But it’s time to be magnanimous, win or lose. The interest of the people dictates that we must close all chapters of strife and recrimination … and step up the contest of excellent in all fields, all for one and one for all,” she stressed.

The President arrived at 5:00 p.m. at the Batasan Complex, two-and-a-half hours shortly after returning from China, the last leg of her hectic six-day foreign trips that also took her to Rome and Portugal to attract investments and showcase the Philippines’ competitiveness and its skilled and educated workforce.

The President thanked the House members, particularly those in the 13th Congress, for the passage of “painful and necessary steps” such as the Expanded Value-Added Tax (EVAT) Law, an economic breakthrough that resulted in the country’s first budget surplus since the 1997 Asian financial crisis.

The President said the overwhelming win of administration candidates in the local government level and the House of Representatives reflected the Filipino people’s nod for the continuation of these reforms towards peace and prosperity.

“The overwhelming victory of our coalition in the House of Representatives and in the local governments is a continuing mandate of reforms, unity, more work and less politics,” the President said.

In the next three years, the President said she is confident that members of the 14th Congress would help bring about a future of peace, solidarity and prosperity.

What — No talk about Charter Change? She talks reconciliation in the midst of her plans to push through with Charter Change. Her accomplishments have been that she has been able to hold on to power, and she hopes to keep that power… And what, no mention of the Senate? An overwhelming mandate? I’m not so sure about that. As MLQ3 would argue, the local elections have always belonged to the incumbent and the true referendum is seen in the projected 8-2-2 opposition win, and a Trillanes and Cayetano victory.

  1. Gloria is absolutely wrong! She’s talking out of her backside!

“We’re totally focused on the economy because only a strong economy will let our people out of poverty and expand our middle class,”

In the case of the Philippines, DOING AWAY WITH FINANCIAL AND MORAL CORRUPTION, will allow our people to get out of poverty and pave the way for building infrastructures across the board, something that could facilitate the building of a solid, expanded middle class!

For as long as there is corruption across the board, i.e., from Malacanang down to the lowest civil servant, the economy will never expand enough to include the impoverished class.

Corruption is a killer in any nation, what more in a poor nation where good governance doesn’t exist! And the other way is population control. Runaway population runs faster than the growth of the economy - there’s no way you can balance the economy with the runaway population of the Philippines.

As I said, Gloria speaks out of her backside! Utter plonker!

  2. Reconciliation? Sure, I’m all for it but I’d like her to get out of there so we could all reconcile. With her as the utterly shameless cause of divisiveness, how can we expect to have any sort of reconciliation.

This moral midget is sooooooo thick, no one could be any thicker than this thick midget pillock!

  3. “All for one and one for all?”

Is she for real? All the while, behind our backs she is plotting the death of our nation? All the while, she is plotting a dictatorship?

And what utter bull that she speaks, both she and devenecia, the only reason impeachment did not proceed and that the garci was never fully investigated was because of her politics.

She wants reconciliation now that the senate majority belongs to the opposition. I say hell with her reconciliation! I hope Trillanes and the rest of the Senate finally investigate all of her gang. Comelec, Garci, all the Pidals, every last one of them. They are the ones dividing our nation.

  4. you are right Manila Bay Watch, how can she claim reconciliation even as the corruption in her own government is so glaring. Utter bullshit!

  5. Reconciliation may have a different meaning in Gloria’s Dictionary. Looks to me like double standards pertaining to her and her enemies. What reconciliation when she is shooting for Charter Change, a move which the majority of the population is clearly against.

I’ve always said this, and I will repeat it. I’m always game for a move to a unicameral, as long as Gloria is nowhere near Malacañang and is out of the Presidency. Time and time again, she has proven to the people, that she cannot be trusted.
