Senator Trillanes Denied Senate Sessions, Media Access, and Office

It’s the main headline today in The Philippines. Senator Antonio Trillanes being denied the ability to attend Senate sessions, as well as being denied an office in order to accommodate the media. Judge Oscar Pimentel denied all his motions. No sessions, no office, no media, not even access to his Senate Staff.

Judge Pimentel said the following of The Department of Justice, “as the prosecuting arm of the government, its shield and sword of law and order, represents not only the 11,138,067 voters who voted for him (Trillanes), but the people of the Philippines, with all its 85 million citizens and counting.”

So, I guess Senator Trillanes could have won the motion if only he had at least 74 million more votes. That would total 85 million citizens right?

Sorry Senator Trillanes, we have to lump you in with Jalosjos. But if only you could bend to the current Administration’s will, then maybe you could also be free like Gringo Honasan. But alas, you are not as selfish as Gringo Honasan. I hope you don’t cave in though, just because others have given in to this Administration and have chosen to kiss the ass that had the power to give them their freedom, it doesn’t mean you have to.

If there is one thing that this court decision cannot take away, it is his conviction in knowing that he is right.

But I’ve been a weary supporter of Senator Trillanes, because of the Oakwood act that he chose to make. But even though this act may have been ill-conceived, in my opinion, his conviction in not conceding to this Administration has made that Oakwood act all the more legitimate. The grievances that were set forth, have come to light, and have been corroborated. It is these grievances that I hope he will finally get a chance to concentrate on as a Senator of The Philippines.

In the end however, Judge Pimentel’s decision may have a big short term affect on the fate of Senator Trillanes, but I believe, that the long term affect of this decision will not make a difference. Pimentel definitely has precedent when he made his decision on Monday, but if it’s going to be the case that Senator Trillanes is disallowed all access to perform his duties, then I submit that Senator Gringo Honasan should be detained as well.

Again, we cannot believe the DOJ, when they say that the release of Senator Trillanes would be preferential treatment, because if this were so, then what about Gringo?

What about Gringo?
