Interfaith Rally! Stand For Truth, Justice and Change
Today, there is an interfaith rally in Makati. A Stand for truth, justice and change. There is a call for resignation. There is one voice among many. A united front. The Arroyo Administration is taking notice. Their fear is growing in proportion to the ever increasing calls for the resignation of The President. The NBN deal is now today’s symbol for the corruption that pervades public office, especially the office of The President. Even if the Bishops are divided in their stand, we can no longer say the same for the stand of thousands of Filipinos as they take to the streets in a Rally against corruption, and a clear denouncement of The current Arroyo Administration.
Students, are also taking a lead. These students are a real inspiration to individuals who have developed apathy to the issues regarding our nation. If there is a resurgence in what we call People power, these students and young individuals will surely be part of the leading group. No need to wait for The Bishops, new sectors are taking up the call and we should be proud that among the leadership are the youth of today.
The Interfaith rally theme “Manindigan para sa Katotohanan, Katarungan at Pagbabago” (Stand for Truth, Justice and Change).
Two former presidents, Corazon Aquino and Joseph Ejercito “Erap” Estrada, have joined the rally, both have also been part of two EDSA revolutions lend their support and voice for the resignation of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.
Jun Lozada and Joey de Venecia III also made their way to the rally.
Hundreds of Thousands are gathering, including the massive group of Jesus Is Lord movement followers led by Brother Eddie Villanueva. Businessmen are also joining the rally.
At the end of the night, the hope is to reach 100 thousand, a show of force that can no longer be undermined and belittled by Gloria Arroyo. Listen she must, whether she heeds their call to resign, only she is purview to that decision.
On an additional note, Cebuanos are also staging a parallel interfaith rally. Reminiscent of the time of EDSA II when I was in Cebu, calling on the resignation of Erap Estrada. Gloria is indeed taking a beating on all sides, from every sector, and from every region. No longer is this just a Manila thing, this is a national call that will deafen the ears of Madam President herself.
