Buried On A Sunday

Bebot was buried on Sunday. It would have been Monday, but apparently in Chinese tradition, it’s bad to bury someone on a Monday. Any news that I hear regarding Bebot makes me just so very sad. While I couldn’t find the time to come home in such a short notice, since I didn’t realize he would be buried so soon, I could only send out a prayer to my dear cousin.

I am noticing a change in my mood, not only am I deeply sad, but it is being combined with so much anger, especially towards the despicable Sulpicio Lines Inc., the owner and management who hide behind their lawyers and all their damn lawsuits.

Bebot was buried on a Sunday, oh how I can only imagine when the murderers of Sulpicio Lines will meet their end, as to what they will say in front of our dear Lord? That they can bring so much grief to the families, and still think that they can continue their operations as if they have the right to kill more people.

Someone else described their ships as floating coffins. I have to agree.

Today, I am once again, thinking of Bebot, as well as his family.

J, his daughter, just took the nursing board exam this last june 2008. The results haven’t been released yet, I am hoping so much that she passes. They need the money, and the sooner she can pass the board exam the better. J, having graduated just this past March, is already working. She was one of the brightest in her class.

They needed money so much that just yesterday, I was informed that they accepted the P200k payout from Sulpicio Lines. I don’t blame them, I know they needed the money, I just wish they had asked me first, I would never have approved of dealing with the devil. Sulpicio Lines is so sick, they try to fool people into thinking that the P200k is coming from their own wallets, but it isn’t, it is coming from their insurance company. Furthermore, they are having all families sign a waiver to forgo any future lawsuits in exchange for this P200k.

And they claim they care about the families and the victims?

Bunch a crap is what it is. Full of horse manure. Only thing is, horse manure smells so much better than the stench coming from the management and owners of Sulpicio Lines, Inc.

I am glad at least that there is still a lot of pressure on Sulpicio Lines, Inc. So much so, that there is news that their assets may be frozen,

The government has initiated moves to tie up assets of Sulpicio Lines Inc. to make sure that the company would shoulder the multimillion-dollar cost of retrieving its sunken MV Princess of the Stars.

Transportation Undersecretary Elena Bautista, head of the government task force on the maritime disaster, Tuesday told a congressional inquiry that the departments of justice and finance were spearheading the effort.

“They are doing actions on funding to make sure that Sulpicio will fulfill its obligation,” Bautista said.

Senior Deputy Minority Leader Roilo Golez proposed tougher action such as placing Sulpicio Lines executives under arrest in case the company reneged on its promise to pay for the refloating of its vessel.

Golez has said the salvaging will cost anywhere from $50 million to $100 million, while the Princess of the Stars was insured for only P350 million.

  1. you could still file a law suit even if you already took the payout..as it turns out most relatives of victims did claim and already filed the suit because their attorneys told them that the 200k is part of the insurance the passengers paid with the purchased of their tickets..
