Filipinos Are A Turkey’s Best Friend

We would like to take this opportunity, to greet and wish our Kababayans, the Filipino-Americans, in The United States:

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

This holiday is just another reason why I think that no matter where a Filipino is situated in the world, he will always bring a piece of The Philippines along for the ride.

Take for example the traditional thanksgiving dinner that consists of Turkey, maybe some mashed potatoes, yams, gravy, pumpkin pie, and others. Only a Filipino can take this traditional American dinner into his own.

Later this evening I will be going to a Filipino friend’s house for dinner, so I asked her “What are we having for dinner”.

She replies, “Oh, you know. The usual. Crispy Pata, some Lechon Manok, Lechon na Baboy, menudo, beefsteak, lumpia, and probably some casava cake”

And I sit back and think… The usual??

Nowhere in that sentence did I hear turkey or pumpkin pie. But, God Bless her soul, it’s just another Filipino Thanksgiving dinner. This is the reason why turkeys must love us a whole lot in The United States. Especially around Thanksgiving season.

But, anyway, I hope everyone has a nice Thanksgiving and let’s remember that it’s not just about the food. Let’s give thanks for every blessing that we have, things that are good in life, and of course be thankful for your relationships with your family, friends, and The Lord.

HAPPY TURKEY DAY EVERYONE AND GOD BLESS!
