Speaking to an intelligent and admirable individual a few weeks back, I came out with a sort of conclusion about how our piled up issues can become something of a nightmare, when one focuses on these issues too much. It is indeed a sacrifice in itself to stay current on the issues, work towards [...]

Although I highly doubt the veracity of the “prediction” that an 8.1 magnitude earthquake will hit The Philippines on July 18, which is just hours from now. I also have entertained the question on whether or not we are actually ready for a magnitude 8.1 earthquake.
What exactly is our earthquake disaster preparedness plan in [...]

Ever wonder why we never or rarely ever hear of reports coming from The Administration that they are ceasing a project that the public or media has not heard of or reported about? Ever wonder why there seems to only be a stoppage or a scrapping of a project, only after reports of anomalies [...]

I just got off the phone with my family. While I do my weekly roundup of phone calls to family members from all over The Philippines, the conversation as of late has tended to veer towards the current rice crisis (or non-crisis if you ask Arroyo).
Mind you, my family, they are not political inclined [...]

I have Manuel Quezon’s blog on my feed reader. This is always good so that I know in a timely manner, whether he has posted a new post. Today, he has an excellent Primer on The Neri Case. I am currently reading it at the moment, so grab some coffee, it’s [...]

I am Cebuano, and that is something no one can take away from me. I am proud to be from Cebu, and that pride grows stronger each day. And yet, when I make statements regarding Cardinal Vidal, those in disagreement, especially fellow Cebuanos, interject when I criticize the beloved Cardinal. They ask [...]

Our local version of Dirty Harry is probably facing his biggest test on his stand against drugs. Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim’s son has been arrested for selling drugs, and his hands off policy on his own son’s case is something that has this Filipino blogger’s admiration for this Mayor skyrocket because of this stand. [...]

For the last few weeks, The Spratlys Issue has been the top story. The Joint Marine Seismic Undertaking for which President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is accused of signing of on is no less the basis for even more investigations on the “deals” and “agreements” with China and The Arroyo Administration itself. The President, because [...]

I had originally titled this post, “Stop The Corruption, and the Rallies will stop”. But now that I think about it, it’s a wrong title because I firmly believe the rallies should not cease, because the crimes have already been done. And even if President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo ceases to do any more [...]

President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has some powerful allies and some powerful enemies. And with this oppositional tandem always in play, she has proved her worth as a shrewd politician. Even in the darkest of hours for her political career, she has used every means possible in order to stay in power. And when [...]

It’s a no go. The Senate has refused the compromise offered by the Supreme Court, although I’m not sure if it was a compromise rather than a bail out. Apparently, the only constitutional thing to do is to do a case by case basis and render judgment as to whether each case of [...]

Today and the day before, the talk has been about Executive Order 464 and about Executive Privelage. From what I gather, EO 464 is nothing but a reminder that Executive Privilege still exists. And certain sections were struck down by The Supreme Court because it was against The Constitution.

George Bush and his allies collude with The House of Saud for their oil at the expense of the American public, and President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo has China and their “loans” at the expense of the Filipino public. China needs oil, America needs oil, The Philippines just needs money. Unfortunately, The U.S. hasn’t [...]

On Tuesday, the Bishops called an emergency meeting. It took some time to reach a consensus and to finalize the statement. After all was said and done, the Bishops released their Pastoral Statement: Seeking Truth, Restoring Integrity. We were waiting as to whether or not they too would call for the resignation [...]

Lies, and more lies. Gloria Arroyo has no more logical defense against the fact that she is involved in The scrapped $329 million National Broadband Network (NBN) Deal. The lies have succumbed to more lies, and the viewing public is once again given a bunch of irreconcilable excuses for which no amount of [...]
